Does anyone here live in or near a fair trade town? Maybe worked on a committee to become a fair trade town or city? I am interested in hearing more about them and any experiences you may have had.
I did find the below link:

Hi, MDV! Hope you got some food in you. Did you know anyone or hear anything about the committee to make the town Fair Trade? Basically, I am wondering if it is worth pursuing here. Does it really make a difference or is it just some kind of hype. I hear it is a big deal in UK and Europe but just starting out over here. I'd love some personal observation from anyone living in those towns or who have worked towards establishing their town as Fair Trade.
Thanks, MDV, that does really help me. I am so sorry you haven't gotten the syringes yet....wish I could send you some...ASAP....sounds like pure misery to me...I just can't handle being hungry myself.
I lived in Arcata. It's a place that focuses on whole foods and fair trade issues. Too bad the site isn't more helpful in determining which, if any, cities are on board. (Arcata is located on California's North Coast and is more "Asheville" than "Ashville" because it's small and the whole town is hippy-ish.)
That is kinda my problem here, well sorta. I've been trying to snoop around and find if anyone is working on this here but so far...nothing. The town is kinda strange....at least 4 colleges. There is a division of sorts between the organic, whole foods types and the right wing republicans. There's like very little middle ground. I'd really like to pursue it though....what the hell....
