chocolate chip tale of woe
The other day I went to the bulk section of the grocery store (Wegmans, for all you upstaters who know it) to buy some chocolate chips. My sister had come to visit, and we wanted to make pumpkin-chocolate chip cupcakes. I have always enjoyed the fact that the chips in the bulk bins are cheap and vegan. Well, this time, I thought they looked a little different, but I checked the ingredient list on the bin, and there was no dairy listed, like always. So, I bought said chips and made some delightful cupcakes.
Well. Yesterday I returned to the bulk section to buy more chips. It turns out that they were just late in changing the label on the bin. They are no longer store-brand, but Hershey brand. And NOT VEGAN. dfasflasfksfjffdf. I was so angry.
Suppose I had a dairy allergy or something! I think this is totally unacceptable. I didn't think to do it when I was there, but I am definitely writing them a thorough complaint.

Not Wegman's!! I used to love that place! You definitely need to write a letter! If people want to buy hershey's chocolate chips containing contaminated dead animal byproducts they can go buy them in a bag a few aisles down! Leave the bulk bins alone!!!!! (unless of course they are planning to add some new delicious grain or nut to the selection).
I know, not Wegmans! The Ithaca Wegmans' bulk section is absolute heaven on earth. They have every possible grain, nut, spice, dried fruit, granola, or candy you can think of. And nutritional yeast. And they have a great health food section. So I can't complain too much. They still sell the Wegman's chips in packages, thankfully. Usually they are pretty good about being considerate of veg*n shoppers, so I was particularly shocked and annoyed.
dfasflasfksfjffdf.
indeed.
yeah, i would be pissed and i have almost had this problem with bulk bins before.
it makes me really sad because i like buying in bulk to reduce the amount of packaging i use but it can be paranoia city, i tell you.
man, that makes me mad. >:(
