Vegan items at TJs

So I was just emailing Trader Joe's because their sublingual B12 has lactose in it. WTF!! But I found this handy list of vegan items on their website, and thought I would pass it along.
their cornbread muffin mix also appears vegan to me although the instructions say to use an egg along with the oil. i made them with applesauce for the oil and used a cornstarch egg and they turned out perfect.
Yeah the list isn't complete, tofutti better than cream cheese is on the vegetarian, but not the vegan list. Unless there is something I don't know about in tofutti :(
And for those of you who eat cheese, they have handy list of which ones have animal, microbial, and vegetable rennet

How great that they have lists like that. My grocery store certainly doesn't. :(
Those are good lists. I added them to the Vegan Website Directory.
Thanks for that link... I do not see their "semi-sweet chocolate chips" on there... I thought those were vegan?!?! :-\

I thought so too. Hmmm. ???
I am pretty sure that the semi-sweet chocolate chips are vegan. The lists are still under construction, so instead of thinking of them as the only things you can buy at TJs, I would think of them as things that are definitely OK to buy.

i have some in my cupboard right now and they do not have any dairy in them.

Thanks for checking!
no problem! and in addition to them being dairy free they are also the cheapest price i've ever found, like 1.70 a bag or something!
and that is the end of my TJ's commercial. :-X
LOL, they should feature you in their next fearless flyer. I can just picture some little cartoon saying "dairy free and super cheap".
I e-mailed them about their pizza dough (no overt animal products), specifically asking about L-Cysteine. The reply was that it's an amino acid and "vegetarian appropriate". Hm, I'm going to take them at their word and assume that animal (human or non-) hair doesn't fit under that umbrella.

I always thought these were vegan too. Nothing on the ingredients list jumped out at me as non-vegan. I bake with them and sometimes use that 365 organic brand too which is also vegan. Both taste better and cost less -- $1.69 a bag -- than the grocery store Nestle or Ghiradelli brands.
The semi-sweet chocolate chips are vegan and are listed under "Candy and Cookies."
This is definitely a handy list. Thanks for posting it. I've wondered about the barbeque sauces and was always hesitant of the "natural flavors" so it's nice to know it's vegan. Also, the reduced fat mayo is vegan? Awesome! I wonder if it's repackaged vegenaise or something else just as good. If it's Nayonaise I'll gag. That stuff is awful! I'll have to check the price and maybe give it a try.
Some of their breads are vegan too and aren't listed here. At least the few I've checked.
rudi's organic whole wheat hamburger buns and hot dog buns are vegan and delicious. the reduced fat mayo is what i use and i love it. plus, it is half the price of veganaise. i also am a fan of their stir fry sauces and dressings (orange mandrin, ginger scallion, and soy ginger vinegarette) the flax pasta (fusili and penne for $.99!) and the extra, extra long authentic spaghetti in the yellow paper ($.99 and vegan) TJ's soy ice cream (cherry chocolate chip, vanilla, and chocolate) the rosemary olive oil foccacia, cranberry apple bran muffins, soy "'chicken'' nuggets (these are really tasty when you need a quick meal! $1.99 a box) and even their gluten free frozen waffles ... there are so many great items. i love trader joe's!
Wow, I will have to check out the tj's soon. They opened one not far from my usual vegan fix place, but always forget it is there. Hmm, do I have an excuse to go tomorrow? I'll have to think of one.
I like that under PRODUCE it says: raw fruits and vegetables (all)
Thanks, TJs
I heart TJ's...it's my main grocery store...I love its small coziness. It's perfect.
