Hey Everyone!
Does anyone know if there is anything vegan at iHop? We just had one built in Ann Arbor and I wanted to try it--but I can't find any nutritional or ingreident info on their products (probably not a good sign...)
I could really go for some good pancakes!

at first i was thinking of a new electronic with and i in it. lmao. i always call i-pods i-pots :P
iHop=pancake you can listen music on ;D
whenever i hear ihop I think of a dirty joke a friend told which i can't remember exactly.. it involved girls with long legs or something. compared it to hooter. idk.
but i don't think they have vegan pancakes, some sides might be vegan if you ask. at my local pancake place I can get potatoes and toast with jelly:)
They make their hashbrowns using oil, not butter. (Wafflehouse uses butter). This was back in the day when I first asked, so, not sure if it's still the case.
They also make a vegetarian omelette with black beans and salsa and stuff now- so maybe you can get that without the eggs/cheese/sour cream.
I went there once and remember there being some fruit thing that was not very awesome. I think they have oatmeal and grits, which could possibly be vegan. Other than that, I don't remember there being much in the way of veganness

i think i know that joke!
"where do girls with good figures work? hooters. where do girls with one leg work? ihop!"
or something like that..maybe it was no legs.hehe.
(:
so ihop used to have a vegan veggie burger... for a while they had only the super-cheesey morningstar veggie burger, but then they started a separate "healthy menu"-type insert, listing special low-fat, low-calorie, and low-carb dishes. Boca veggie burger was on the low-fat/low-calorie or something. but as soon as they stopped doing that menu (i guess not too many people think "health" when they're gettin' pancakes), the bocas were gone. it's sad too, because the only extra ingredient they'd have to have is frozen boca burgers. :/
other than that, i don't know. i bet the fries are vegan, and i sure would like the onion rings to be vegan. i'd like any onion rings to be vegan...
if i ever get dragged there, i get hash browns. woohoo.
and, i just want to mention i also thought this was a post about some gizmo. iHop; it's like the skip-it toy but digital. or something like that...
faunablues, BurgerKing's onion rings are vegan.
sweet!
Is it IHOP that has the black bean chili? We stopped at some pancake place when I was driving home from NC and that's what I ordered. The server said it was vegan but I'm still not sure on that one. It wasn't very good regardless since the beans were only half cooked. Besides that I had a side salad and french fries.
The one I used to go to had boca burgers and veggie chili. I haven't been in years, so maybe not anymore.
I think I am getting some BK Onionrings tomorrow. Thanks a lot secondbase! Just what my growing fetus needs! ;)
All I'm picturing is a stack of pancakes with one of those ice cream scoop sized blobs of butter on top.
Not overly vegan...
This is a good question, though! It's nice to know that they have a couple vegan things, just in case I ever go with friends. I just wish those things were pancakes. Because I feel like that's the point of going to IHOP in the first place.
Now I really want some pancakes.
With gooey strawberries on top.
:'(
we always went to ihop after football games (the band) at like 1 in the morning.
i would never eat at 1 anyway, so i always just had ice water.
but we were there to socialize, not dine.
Awwwww! I'm so sad--sounds like this place is pretty bad--I mean I can eat a side salad and a glass of water any where...blerg! More restaurants need to start cooking vegan! Guess I'll just make my own pancakes--I gotta go buy a griddle now...
when in doubt at a breakfast place i like to get a side of fruit, a side of potatoes(be sure to ask) and check on toast. bagels are usually vegan, and bagel places often have hummus, guac or toffuti.

Homemade pancakes are much better! Make your own...it's so easy...food almost always tastes better when made at home with fresh ingredients. Vegan with a Vengeance has recipes for Banana Pecan Pancakes, Coconut Pancakes with Pineapple Sauce, and Chocolate-Chocolate Chip Pancakes! Top that IHOP! 8)
Plus, do you really want to sit amongst all the 2.5 omni families watching the whole lot of them chow down sausage and other greasy "breakfast foods"?! Not what I want to look at first thing in the morning! Blech! :P Personally, I don't think IHOP is sexy! ;D There are many other things I'd rather see first thing in the morning. ::)

i agree, IMHO the best pancakes i have ever had are the beer pancakes i make! nom nom nom.
I know guys! I agree too that the ones you make are the best--I just miss going out to eat, being around other people and my friends--I feel really isolated :'( I mean--I do go out with some of my vegan friends from my animal rights group--but all we talk about is animal rights, and eco living, and vegan stuff--I just miss hanging out at a crowded, crappy restaurant with your old friends having stupid debates over celebritie drama and boys and gossip...I know it's not very "brainy" but I miss it...I was hopin to go to iHop and just be me...not vegan me!
Whenever I hear anything about IHOP I think of comedian Jim Gaffigan's comments. Says the last thing he feels like doing when he leaves there is hopping and that the name of the place should be "INEEDAWHEELCHAIR".

I understand how you feel! I was thinking about this the other day when I was with my friends..just hanging out, loitering the whole day away until someone suggested we stop for lunch. I feel really bad about making a suggestion like a sit down restaurant because I know they don't want to spend that much money. I know they want to go to McDonald's and spend $2, get food quickly, and leave - but it's like I'm always mucking up things "no let's not go there...or there...or there"
I always just do my best to eat what I can wherever we are (except McDonald's where I believe there is even beef fat in the drinks) no matter how unsatisfying it will be - tiny bare salads, fries, chips and salsa - and then just load up on stuff I really like when I get back home.
