Favorite Vegan/Vegetarian Restaurant in Your Hometown

Hi Everyone,
My husband and I are trying to compile a list of vegetarian/vegan restaurants to keep handy for when we are travelling. We tend to visit many different cities on business and for pleasure, so I thought I'd ask around for everyone's favorite eateries. I know this stuff is available through various websites, but I'm inclined to trust word of mouth more! So please let me know, and hopefully we'll get to check them out at some point or another. Thanks!!
NYC - Strictly Roots
I just moved to Evanston, IL... I'm just four blocks away from the Blind Faith Cafe!!! (http://www.blindfaithcafe.com) Absolutely delicious... I'd be there all the time but the prices are a little high. And a quick bike ride down to the Lake Side Cafe (http://www.lake-side-cafe.com/index.html) means mindblowing seitan gyros!!! I have never lived anywhere with these sorts of options before... it's sort of rocking my socks off.
We have Au LAc down the street. Vegan and raw menu. Really delicious. Chinese, vietnamese.
Fountain Valley, CA in Orange county.
Just today I found a veg*n restaurant I never even knew existed! The Moon and River Cafe in Schenectady, NY. By default it is my favorite due to lack of others around. The food was still absolutly amazing!
Soul vegetarian restauraunt

:D
Gosh! I was going to suggest the Rainbow In Ft. Collins, CO but earthmother already said that. I have to second that place, though! Not all veg but mostly so. Their vegan corn chowder is the best I've had....of course it's the only restaurant of its kind in town, I think.
I've been to breakfast a few times there and the benedicts are good except the fake cheese sauce they use in place of the hollandaise, makes it a little odd.
I haven't gotten up the nerve to try the brown rice tofu scramble yet. :)
Avogadro's Number in Ft. Collins is excellent too for sandwiches and a drink. They have a full bar, music on weekends and great veggie and tempeh sandwiches. Great breakfasts too!
Toronto, Ontario - there are the ones I have been to off the top of my head but there are many, many, many more in this city
(the first 3 were mentioned above but they are so good they should be repeated anyway)
-Fresh
-Fressen
-Vegetarian Haven
-Lotus Pond
-Graceful Vegetarian
-Annapurna
-Kings Cafe
-Tov Li
Don't forget Bo De Dwyn...so good, lotsa mock stuff; Vietnamese...and it doesn't say vegan on the menu but don't be afraid...for instance I ordered "Chicken Curry with rice" but it was really mock chicken. Fressen is my ABSOLUTE favourite though. I do have issues with Vegetarian Haven, I didn't like alot of the food or the service. Also, you can check out Sushi on Bloor...lotsa veggie sushi options for cheap (except the miso soup DOES have fish in it). And East! on Queen has a veg menu at the back of their regular menu. OH!! and how could I forget? In the Junction is Cool Hand of a Girl. Not everyday their bread is vegan but when it is, it's so worth it to have a braised tofu sandwhich with tomato, lettus and veganaise. MMMmmmm!! okay...now I might have to go out for some food...OH!! and two more, Big Fat Burrito in Kensington (near King's Cafe) has veg burritos with sweet potatoe and avacodo...but get a small 'cause they really are big. Moon Bean Cafe in Kensington as well has vegan somosa and vegan "nanna bread" and probably some other fun stuff as well.
San Francisco Bay Area: Cafe Gratitude (!!!!)
Veg*an restaurant in MY hometown? What a silly idea. :D
btw, Davedrum, now that you're back in Woodstock, have you been back to the Rosendale Cafe? (I noticed earlier in this thread that you said it was your all-time favorite.)

HAHA! I DID go there...several times actually! I'm actually back in GA at the moment. I closed on the home/property near Woodstock last week, but the builder/realtor still has some things to finish up before I can move in...like finishing the fencing through the woods!! :o The final coats on the hardwood floors will be nice.....otherwise I'd be creating some new look of flooring with permanent paw prints embedded onto them as well! Now I have the last of the packing to do here at my home in GA....then after I get myself and all the dogs/kitties out....(for a short 960 mile drive).....I'm getting painters back in, and having the floors resanded/stained in this home. The home is only 3 years old....but I'd rather it be looking brand new when I list it for sale next month.
But back to the Rosendale Cafe....I'm sure once I settle into my new home, I will finally be able to take a short break from cooking nearly EVERY meal I consume. I actually might eat my lunch and dinner there everyday for a while! If they have wi-fi....I might as well move in and stop back home a few times a day to check on the animals and feed them! :D
Sorry I never had the opportunity to meet both you and Bookpapa back in GA...I regret that since you really were not too far from Dahlonega....though a little birdy mentioned that you'll be in Boston next month....my old stomping grounds for a few years....I look forward to finally meeting you guys there (along with the other North East vegheads!! ;)

Yeah, sometimes life just has a way of screwing things up. BUT...we are pumped to meet you and other VegWebbers in Boston next month at Grasshopper! Can't wait. See you there.
Does anyone know of any in the Atlanta area?
Cafe Gratitude in Berkeley -- I love their steamed quinoa dishes and raw pizzas. Really good desserts, friendly staff, very comfortable family-style environment and not too pricey ;)
Does anyone know of any in the Atlanta area?
Live 'n It Live (or something like that) is a raw vegan restaurant in East Point. Also, R Thomas downtown (on Peachtree Street) is very veg*an-friendly but it's not totally veg*an. Oh yeah, how could I forget the Sunflower Cafe on Roswell Road. Amazing! There are probably others but those are the ones that come to mind.
EDIT: Well, my excuse is that it was barely after 5:00 this morning when I posted this. All of a sudden this afternoon I realized the name of the restaurant in East Point is Lovin' It Live.
:)
I went to Cafe Sunflower just 2 days ago...OMG, you have to try the Stuffed Acorn Squash, they stuff it with all kinds of vegan yummyness; wild rice, mushrooms, walnuts, red cabbage, spinach, and white beans. I'm sure it had a lot of other things in it too, but that is just what I remember. Anyway, it was soooooooooooo delicious. And I love the owner, Lin Sun, she is such a sweetheart. I have got to go back in there and get another Acorn Squash before they change the menu.
Thanks you I will have to try Cafe Sunflower. I live south of Atlanta; by the Atlanta Motor Speedway (which is not iactually in Atlanta). But I will get up there one Saturday. Thanks also to Bookmama for your other suggestions.

An acquaintance of mine just opened one: Calabash.
I'll report back with more info
I was going to start a whole new thread dedicated to the awesomeness that is Nutshell in Portland OR. Sort of upscale-y, all vegan, mostly organic, local products. The 155 grain fry bread with Poblano-Sorrel fundido is amazing! So is the Caribbean barbecue (it has an orange stuffed with coconut smashed sweet potatoes on it!!).
Bella Facia has a great vegan pizza with a roasted red pepper-cashew base, unlike Mississippi and Hot lips which just exclude the cheese, or its a beautiful pizza that uses FYH.
Arabian Breeze marks all of its menu item that are vegan, and there are a lot of them.
ummm, and I guess that is all I will add to the other Portland places listed.
Actually, there is a vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant near my house, but I have never been, it is in Division, and I think it is called "vegetarian restaurant" and there is the veggielicious food cart on Hawthorne
Oh, I forgot a few. The Bonfire and Hungry Tiger Too are both regular old bars, that happen to have A LOT of vegan options, also clearly marked. The bartender at HTT often wears an herbivore hoodie, so she is a great reference regarding he menu (I am talking about the blonde bartender, her name is Sharky).
Sweet Pea bakery opened up last weekend (there was a two hour wait so I didn't go) but they are all vegan.
And we have vegan-pirate-themed bar and restaurant, that I forgot the name of, but I think the concept is hilarious.
Oh and do not go to Old Wive's Tales. I worked there for a few years a long time ago, and they microwave their food . . . and over charge for it. Plus the owner is kind of evil.
Vego To Go on The Parade, Norwood in Adelaide Australia.
Oh my god, such yummy food.
