anyone have a recipe for a white pizza that doesn't use a ton of fake butter in the sauce? ive never even made non vegan white pizza so i dont know if its even possible, but i don't use fake butter and all the recipes ive seen call for like a whole tub.
White pizza? Do you mean a white sauce for the on crust, instead of tomato sauce? If so, I'm sure it is quite possible, even without margarine. An example would be useful so I or someone else could make suggestions to veganize it.
Would a white pizza sauce be like an alfredo sauce or something? Because I know there are a lot of recipes for vegan Alfredo out there.
The white pizza I am thinking about has ricotta cheese topped with tomatoes. I'm not sure what kind of sauce there is to it though.
The white pizza I've had before has cheese (mozzarella for sure, maybe others), and a garlic butter sauce. I have made it at home with a garlic/olive oil mixture brushed on the crust instead of sauce, then mozzarella and parmesan cheeses. For a vegan version, I might try something like this: White bean pesto for the sauce (maybe without the pesto, if you want it more white), or a vegan alfredo sauce would probably be good too.
The pizza that is topped with ricotta and tomatoes is usually called pizza margherita - but it is a similar idea since it doesn't have tomato sauce, just chopped or sliced tomatoes.
I had the most amazing white pizza that my friend made. She mixed vegan yogurt with vegan cream and added salt and spices to it. Then she put smoked tofu on top. It was awesome. I highly recommend it!!
