Birds- they're trying to take over!

As my boyfriend likes to say, we live in a "Fairy Wonderland" where bunnies hop and ducks quack and squirrels.... do whatever squirrels do. Our apartment complex is like a cute little wilderness in the middle of Baton Rouge. It's great.

But the birds are freaking me out!

When I'm home alone during the daytime... generally early afternoon... they decide they want IN. Now, thus far they haven't gotten into the apartment, mostly because they haven't figured out I have a door. They fly up to the window, perch on the windowsill, and even try to fly THROUGH the glass... gently. Not like "BAM! A bird hit the window." Like, they flutter around, brushing against it.

They'll perch on the electric wire that hangs between the buildings (there's some construction going on), and just sing and play and make noise while I'm in the kitchen.

I just thought I'd share that. It freaks me out when I'm alone and it sounds like someone climbed up to my second-floor window and is trying to open it... but it's only the birds. I guess I'll have to get used to them.

::)

Sounds like "The Birds" by Edgar Allen Poe......at least I think that's who wrote it.

In the morning I open the lvg room windows to air the apartment and pigeons and sparrows perch on the windowsill hoping for crumbs or some of the parakeet's millet. Sometimes they will even come into the living room after a particularly irresistible piece of crust or whatever. They aren't afraid as long as I don't look directly at them!

Funny...I live on the 3rd floor and more than once I have watched a sparrow down on the ground several yards from the building...and it's like they can feel me looking at them, because they will look up toward the building (moving their head) and then fly away!

Yeah, Baton Rouge is pretty nice. I moved here from West Virginia, and it's a huge difference. People know I'm not from here because I never say "ya'll"... although at times I catch myself almost saying it.

;D

Yabbit, if I opened my windows, SOMETHING would come in. Either birds or bugs.... I don't know, maybe my apartment is just super-inviting. Maybe I should do that.... then one of the stray cats that play in the grassy area in front will make their way inside. I could be like "Cat? Oh.... that's not MY cat... it's a stray. It got into my apartment, and now it just won't leave. Hmm? You want a pet deposit? Well... see... it's not really a pet. I didn't buy it or adopt it... I just opened a window and it decided this was its home."

What can ya do?

I seriously think it's because you're veg*n. I read somewhere once that we smell different to animals. I know for a fact we smell different than omnis. We've discussed that a LOT on here.
