i was in a hfs looking about the other day and there were spome jason brand gift sets of body lotion and shower gel which were HONEY and cinamon flavour!! and they said 100% vegetarian on the bottle. but there was actual honey there listed as an ingrediant. is this news to anyone else? i was shocked by it, i figured that they would know that honey is not 100%vegetarian.

??? Are you referring to honey and cinnamon because that was the scent, or is there something I need to learn about cinnamon?
It took me about a half hour in the HFS one day to find vegan lotion. Just about everything was vegetarian rather than vegan. I think bp's classification is right-on about how things are marketed.
what bp said.
that rachael ray bitch (sorry, i really, really dont like her) gets away with listing fish and chicken in her "vegetarian" cook book. blech!

OMG! I really dislike her too! Does anyone else get the urge to smack her with a cast iron frying pan?
I can't stand her - I'm so glad I'm not alone!! Capture, I'd love to hit her with a frying pan . . . even her voice is annoying!!
Yea, baypuppy is right. Vegetarian products can use things like milk, honey, etc. Vegetarians eat those things, after all.
Vegan products are tough to find ... at least, where I live. I get mine all online.

ha ha! don't you love it when she says "YUM OH!"
no. no i dont laurabs.
I buy products that are listed as both 100% vegetarian and cruelty free and can't find a non-vegan ingredient among them. I use Jason Sea Kelp shampoo/conditioner, Jason Vanilla body lotion, Jason Tea Tree face wash and Avalon Organics toner and face mask--all are listed as vegetarian, but non contain non-vegan ingredients. Perhaps I'm not well-versed in all the obscure non-vegan things, but as far as I can see, they're vegan "safe" ???

I have no use for the lady. I thought her cookbook was vegetarian too, but if we're thinking of the same one it's actually titled "veggie meals"...so as to lure us in and then realize "hey I already know how to cook pasta and vegetables"
I gave it to my mom with a million little reminder notes of what I don't eat because she always wants to make meals for me when I come in.
I think Ms. Ray is misinformed about the definition, and it's really unfortunate that none of her producers or anything are cluing her in because it's kind of embarrassing to watch her screw up
i'm not a fan of RR, either, but....
The name calling and human abuse would set an excellent example for compassionate living.
... thanks for the reminder, we all need to be brought down to earth every once in a while.
and, as far as products.... i just rarely use them, or make my own! reduction, woohoo!

;D yeah, i really wish she would break out of her pasta-tomato-parsley-cheese rut. surely there is more to the culinary world?? and did you ever notice how she turns everything into a hamburger shape?? ugh.
I don't hate Rachael Ray, but I certainly understand why people find her annoying! I watch "30 Minute Meals" every tiny once in awhile; I think because I used to watch it while eating dinner during my first year at college, and it reminded me of home. ::) I still find it comforting, even though I scream at the TV all the time--especially when she cooks with veal, which is, oh...25% of the time. Veal is so "sexy & savory." :'( Plus, she drives me nuts with all her talking-with-her-hands! She is hand gesture CRAZY! ;D
Aaaaanyway, this is a hilarious website for you RR-haters:
Rachael Ray Drinking Game
It is probably my favorite website ever... I have yet to play it (I'd be drunk within 2 minutes with these rules ;)), but it's SO FUNNY to watch the show with these things in mind.
She uses the word "spoonula" ALL THE TIME! And nutmeg seriously is her only "secret ingredient." She always says, "Nutmeg is just the little thing that will make your guests go, 'Hmmm... What is that?!'" :D
This site is so right on!
ROFL - Man, I'd be way drunk if I played that game! I wonder how many hours of RR they had to watch to compile a list that long :D

i dont *hate* HER, per se...but i find her so grating!
i cant hate her b/c she supports pit bulls and loves her dog alot, so....i guess she, as a person is alright. but as a personality, hells no!
its so funny b/c i remember her when she had a cooking bit on our local tv news station. soooo different!
