working at the MSPCA

Hey, All:
I haven't been here regularly in some time, but I still lurk semi-regularly. Anyway, here's an update: I got a job at the MSPCA, The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the oldest animal welfare society in the country. I'll be functioning as their temporary archivist to help promote the preservation of their historical materials in their archives. They've been around since the 1860s, so there's a lot of history to be preserved. I haven't started, yet, but I thought I'd let you all know that I've found a way to work in my profession (libraries and archives) and combine that with animal welfare. I'm pretty happy about that, and thought I'd share.
Hope you all are well,
Joelle
Wow! Sounds great. You're so lucky to find a job you like. Congratulations! :)

Very nifty! Let us know how it goes...
Wow...sounds wonderful to combine two passions :) Good luck!

Congratulations! Passion in work is something I have been thinking a lot about lately. It is so important. You must feel great. Good luck!
Awesome! I'm sure you find of lot a cool things going through almost 150 years worth of animal rights history.
You're the first librarian I know outside of librarians in libraries. At one point I wanted to be a science research librarian because I'd get to learn about a whole bunch of cool things while helping other people gather material. I still think it's a cool profession, especially working with archives.

Well, humboldt_honey, now you know two, although I work in a public library and not with archives. ;)
EDIT: I realized that you meant because she worked in an archives. Humph. I must have gotten up too early this morning. :-[
That is great to hear! Good Luck in your new career! :)
This is awesome to hear Sparkle!! Congratulations.
Seeing as how I have not been on VegWeb for over a year, to see this the first time I check in is awesome! *hugs*
Thanks, everyone! I don't start until the 31st, but I am excited. It's going to be great. Challenging, but great. Thanks for your encouragement!
