What should I do with my summer off?
This topic might be a little premature, but next summer--2009--will be mine for the taking, as it is in between my two years of teaching. I plan to set aside a little money to take a nice trip for myself, and I am starting to throw around ideas.
I have only ever been to the east coast, so I would really love to make a trip to the west coast. I have family in New Mexico and close friends in Washington, not to mention a whole slew of vegwebbers in the mid to western states that I would just love to visit! And then there are all the national parks that I could see. And so many other things. So that's one idea. Hopping from friend to friend throughout the western US.
Anyway, I really want to experience new things and make the most of my extended time off. What do you all think? What kind of trips have you been on? Backpacking through the US? Backpacking through Europe? I want to hear it all.
You could easily fly into Wyoming or Montana (don't know about airports...that's all you AC) and drive to Glacier, Yellowstone, and Grand Tetons...Cascades aren't too far from MT either...we drove that in a day.
Yeah...we have airports..haha. I don't know about anywhere else, but I know there's an airport here in Missoula, one in Kalispell, and one in Spokane and Seattle. When we flew home for Christmas...we drove to Spokane (3 hours), and flew out of there b/c we (I...really..) thought it was cheaper that way. But that turned out to be a real hassle (+ we had to pay for the gas, and leaving the car there), and we decided next time we would just pay the extra..I booked a couple months in advance (I'm still not sure if this was a good or bad thing), and it cost us (well, it cost my parents..) about $700 to fly from Spokane, WA to OKC (my parents came and picked us up there..it's another 2 hours to our home town), round trip.
AND the last that I knew...the parks pass was still $50, but that was probably a couple of years ago. I've been to quite a few Natl. parks with my parents...so I might be able to tell you if I especially liked certain ones...over others.
Girls + Math = Yea! I'm glad I'm not the only one. ;)
Aw, I wish I was one! Well...I wish it came more naturally to me..I don't wish it so much that I'm going to continuously study math..to become better at it. :o
