What does the Ignore X mean on some people's posts?

What have I missed?

I think that it is on everyone's posts....everyone except your own. I think that we can block people or posts somehow, although I haven't read anything about it yet.

Yes, stars asked in the Recipe Q&A FAQ if there was an ignore option. It has it's limitations, but it's worth a shot to try - it leaves it open to an individual's choice for who's post they read. Some sites use this feature, some don't. Yes, I believe that there is now a button next to everyone's posts except for your own and admin's posts.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the "three strikes you're out" warning thing mentioned in the Forum Rules thread at the top. ?? ???
Edit: Oops, I see Admin posted while I was guessing. ::)
Yvette, does that mean if we click on the "ignore" button the person's posts won't show up or they simply won't be able to contact us specifically??

If you click the ignore button next to a post, the screen will refresh, the post will still be there, but it then will say "This user is currently ignored." instead of the content of the post. There will also be a show button to show just that post and an unignore button to un-do the ignore.
In regards to "simply won't be able to contact us specifically", that has been a long standing option in your VegFriends "My Profile and Settings" under "Personal Message Options".

Well, personally, I wanted it for people that I'd call trolls- the ones that don't add anything valuable to the discussion, yet post a lot/use up a lot of space. Sorry if that seems harsh, but without it I'd probably just leave vegweb at this point.

This is exactly what is needed Yvette!
*uses it NOW*
I appreciate the ability to read specific posts if I like but not all of them i.e. if a user you are ignoring replies to your topic and you desire to read it.
Admin Question: Will the user know you are ignoring them??

For what it's worth, I think adding this function is a good idea.
*scratches head and wonders how many people are ignoring her* :-\
