A Very Pretty Apartment
Hey everyone,
Sssooo...I know this board is in no way an apartment listing. However, I'm getting desperate. Long story short, my two friends/roommates moved out, leaving me high and dry. I was to be evicted if I did not fill the rooms by May 1st. So I went about finding people to live with. I found one, Shannon and she's great. Then I found this other girl, Liz, who I thought was great but as it turns out, she screwed me and has not moved in or paid for May as was the agreement.
My landlord was over last night collecting rent cheques ( I live in a triplex) and she pretty much yelled at me and told m it wa smy fault that she was out all this money and blah blah blah and by the end of it I was in tears with a possible eviction on my head. Shannon and I have posted on both Craigslist and Now Magazine with nothing.
So, since I really like this board, can relate to alot of you and find almost everyone here to be really awesome, I was wondering anyone was looking for a room in Toronto and know anyone who is? If it helps any, I'm really nice and have a HUGE kitchen that's fully stocked. Hardwood floors, inhouse laundry, lotsa windows, two blocks from High Park...
I just don't know what to do :-\
Warmth,
Lenorre
hahhaha...baypuppy, I think I'd like to do more than sue their silly butts...but I'm a good veg and I'm all about nonviolence...I guess... >:( ;)
Anyway, a lease was not signed. Our landlord was like "meh, whatever" so we didn't worry about it. So really, my landlord screwed herself and now it's somehow MY fault that they left. GGGGrrrrr...not cool.
Thanks for the positive post and I'm glad everything worked out for you :)

Sorry you got yelled at. I'm nowhere near Toronto, nor am I looking for housing. Sorry! Just wanted to wish you luck finding a roommate.
Your apartment sounds divine (I would die for a bigger kitchen) and you sound like a perfect roomie, but sadly I'm quite far away. Have you tried posting on carigslist or facebook? Stuff like that always goes quickly here in Pittsburgh, and those are usually shitty old apartments.
Best of luck!
hmmm...If your "landlord" didn't have you sign a lease, it sounds like she's subleting illegally. Something's fishy there. You have NO responsibility to fill that room. She will also have trouble evicting you if you have any bills coming to that address in your name - it's proof you aren't trespassing or squating. If she gives you any crap, call a lawyer. And next time, make sure you and everyone lving with you signs a lease. It's for mutual proctection under the law, so you should insist on it.
just an fyi..
Check out http://www.veggieroommate.com/. I think that you can post the availability of your rental for free.
Oh wow, thanks everyone for the positivity and goodness about this. I have posted on Craigslist and Now Magazine online, with only one reply, and she found a cheaper place and thus did not move in.
I was thinking about moving out but...hhmmm ya know? This is my home and I'm thinking moving out will be my last resort. I really do love this place and am always inviting people over for lunch and supper. I think I'm getting pretty close to telling my landlord to go and...well, you get it. I will not take the balme for other's mistakes. If she wants the money so bad, she needs to go and track down the others for the money, not me. So HA! to her.
And thanks to the "Admin", I will be checking that site out just the second I post this.
Alright, thanks again everyone for the replies and help. So appreciated :)
Warmth,
Lenorre
This is going to sound completely random if you don't, but do you know Katie West?
