Just for fun  -  Tattoos...who's got 'em, where, and what of?  Who doesn't have one but wants one?  Myself, I don't have any but have thought about getting one for a long time.

Just curious :)

Just one, a beautiful large red koi (japanese goldfish) on my lower back with cherry blossoms around it.  I got it about five years ago and have been dreaming of more. I really want a map of the world.  I just want to find the right map that is the most true to scale but I studied geography in college so I am especiallyy picky and I can not find the right map!

I am thinking of one.  I am trying to decide if I really want something permanent in my life, because I have not had much permanence and maybe I can't handle it...?

I want a dragonfly, well obviously.  I have one I have designed myself, small and more than one color.  THe problem is where.  I am thinking on my foot just below and foreward from my ankle.  I am told that spot would hurt a lot.  My deal is, if I dress up or wear sandles, yes I want you to see my tat.  If I don't, I can wear shoes and socks.  I am thinking of 2 dragonflies, matching, the same size, one on my foot as described and one the opposite shoulder.  I could have one put on my right shoulder right over my small pox vaccine scar and that is about the right spot.  I would never have any on my arms, neck or legs and I am too much of a prude to bare my arse for a dragonfly on a butt cheek (after all I am old woman and bottom is anything, but nice to look at).  The placement is a hangover from my childhood where tats were considered trashy and nasty, not something a "lady" would have done.  I don't feel that way about it on other people, not in the least, but on myself it brings up these issues.

Of course, my parents told me that nice girls don't go to the bar and I was 46 before I set foot in one.  I was told that only gypsies have their ears pierced, and I definitely have them.  That only trampy women wiggle when they walk and I have spent years learning to move mine a little.  Also that normal women don't color their hair and I do that.  Call it old silly issues.

WHen I can find the right artist, I'll get them.

I had a friend who got one there and she kept having to get it redone because the ink kept fading.

i want a couple but have yet to get any. i am still considering....
i want three suns on my hand/wrist/forearm (middle one being on the wrist) and 'peace' (or possibly a saying incorporation peace) in arabic (only because i love the way the script looks  :-\) either on the inner arch of my foot (though people told me this would fade) or my upper inner forearm.

I have a girlfriend that has a beautiful world map wrapped around her arm. She placed it there so that it would be easier to keep it to scale.

That would be an awesome spot thanks for the suggestion!

OK, I am boring.  Three holes in my left ear and one in my right ear.  My allergies don't often allow me to wear earrings.

As for tattoos, I wanted to get a gecko wrapped around my nipple but chickened out and envisioned truly saggy boobs when I am older with a very misshaped gecko.

If I was to do other body parts, would be a sea turtle.  Maybe a dolphin.

Although, I think this would be cool as I hate wearing toe rings but love them on other people, a tattoo of a silver toe ring around one of my toes.

My biggest issue is my feet both feel pain and are extremely ticklish so I would be laughing and crying!  ::)  As well, I don't know if they have a silver colour because I have never seen it on a tattoo.

I told my gay friend that brought me to the place where he gets his tattoos done that he would have to sit in there and hold my hand if I did the gecko on my boob.  He said...NO WAY!

Oh, someone mentioned the bottom of their foot, I wanted one on the bottom of my foot and they said it wasn't a good place and they don't really last.

After reading this thread, maybe I will look into the toe ring one if they have silver.

I loved the pictures of your tattoos.  I am just worried I will do it and wish I hadn't.

I do love getting henna tattoos.  Have done a gecko near my wrist a few times and the ultimate was Bob Marley's face on my upper arm.

Oh, another one I thought about if I didn't do the gecko on my boob was a Forget me Not flower which is the flower used for Alzheimer's (my mom is in late stages).  Again I chickened out!

That sounds like a beautiful idea :)

I have a lady running on my foot, it's for those days I don't feel like running. I figure hey you tattooed it on, you get your butt out there and do it!

I have a treble clef with a daisy intertwined up the middle. It is in the center of my lower back.  I got it when I was nineteen.

I thought about it for years before I got it, because I wanted to be sure.  Now I've been thinking about another one for the last year.

I've decided that I'm going to get a simple black peace sign, about 1/2 inch in diameter on the inside of my wrist.

Okay, bookmama checking in here. I got my first tat when I was 51.

Hey, Bookmama, I got my tattoo when I was 49. I think everyone thought I'd lost my mind. About 2 years later I became a veg and that really convinced them!

I so don't look like someone who'd get a tattoo so I love shocking people by telling/showing them. (See, you can still be immature at almost 63  ;D ). Chicken that I am, though, my in-laws don't know and my mother never knew.

curse being underage! i do have a few idea's though. i want the misfits skull symbol or a koi fish on my foot. i also think that getting an egyptian ankh or some other symbolic symbol on either your wrist or ankle would be neat.

Funny story to go along with the misfit topic.  For my birthday my mom found a pair of shoes that she thought I would like mainly because she thought they looked cute because they had pink polka dots.  So she sent me my present and when i opened them they were Misfits Vegan slip on shoes!!  So i called her and said thanks mom ( picture the whole conversation in Spanish) But did you realize that these shoes are from a band called the misfits and the shoes are  also vegan!! and she said I just liked them because they look cute.  I was like wow thanks mom if you only heard the music this band plays it might have changed your mind about buying them for me... it was so cute that she randomly chose shoes that were 1) by the misfits and 2) vegan hahahah...moms are so dear :)

ooh!!! what size shoe do you wear? lol. i may have to steal em' ;). were they dravens?

btw, i'm getting a misfits backpack tommorow :)!!!!

Further to your conversation, guys, yay for random Misfits stuff! It's a running joke amongst my pop-music-loving friends that they have no idea who the Misfits are but they must be good 'cause I have so many shirts with their logo on!

Here's my tattoo, upper right arm. Hard to believe this is two years old now  :o

When I return from Russia I have big plans for a rib piece - design's all sorted but I'm leaving it to stew for a while...
