What is everyone doing to celebrate Earth Day tomorrow? 8)

I'll be going through my things to try to freecycle some of it.
For those of you who don't know, there's a website (http://www.freecycle.org) that has "local chapters" where you can post things to give away or try to find things for free. Davedrum will be happy to know that there are many chapters in Georgia (but none in Walker County - no surprise >:( ).

I took a bunch of students up to the Pittsburgh South Side to clean up the city...we filled SO many bags with garbage (and cigarette butts..ugh...so many), as well as about 15-20 bags of recyclables! Now I am really, really tired. I have photos of it here:
We also planted flowers on campus, and-FINALLY- have paper, cardboard, and glass recycling avaliable!!

stars - I went to your flickr site and browsed the rest of your photos.
I've been looking for a plaid covered bento but haven't see one for sale. Where did you get yours? (I only took your image to post here so you'd know what I was talking about.)

It's so funny everyone likes that one. I bought it for less than 7.00- I think it was somewhere from 4-6.50- at a Chinese grocery store in Chinatown, in Philadelphia. There were kid's bentos and metal bentos as well...it was over with the china teacups, chopsticks and sushi plates. I believe it was on Race street. It's just as nice- I think- as those 20-30.00 ones on eBay, with the fork and spoon and divided all included. I would look in your town's Chinatown or just any larger Chinese grocery store.

Well, since I just back home to Georgia today and I'm trying to settle in, tomorrow I'm going to take my best friend John's ass (along with his wife Wendy and a few other friends) over to the Appalachian Trail and pick up garbage. It's his birthday tomorrow on Earth Day (that's only way I ever even remember it), and I know of no other better way then to wake him up real early and get him (and them) onto the trail. Nothing like finding cigarette butts on the trail! >:( Who "smokes" and hikes at the same time?! Not us hikers! Kind of like running the Boston Marathon while sipping a Budwiser and smoking a Marlboro!

Now here's an Earth Day message from my good friend Bill Maher:

My son and I spent the morning cleaning up an area by the dog park-we had 2 huge bags of trash! Mostly McDonald's cups and candy wrappers. Ironically enough, no Cliff bar or Larabar wrappers were found. We might hit another park tomorrow.

There is a Earth Festival and Parade in Tucson - I am excited because I never heard of an Earth Parade before. I'll take pictures and post them!!! Also, it's my dad's birthday - which is SO convenient since he is TOTALLY GREEN!

Dave that message was great! I sent it out to pretty much my entire e-mail address book... Including my non-recycling, meat eating, energy inefficient family... lol
I really wish people would care about the earth 365 days a year, not just one :-\
