You are here

Briggs-meyer

So, if your going to spend $200.000+ on therapy, you might as well use the "helpful" information you've gleaned to make random surveys on line....

Brigs Meyers....for thouse of you who have heard of this personality test, what are you? For those who have not, here is a simplified version....

http://www.personalitypathways.com/type_inventory.html

for some reason my therapist thought it was important for me to know this....um yeah. whatever ???

I'm an INFJ. What are you?

I took an extended version of that test last year.  I assigned numbers to answers and then added up the numbers in each characteristic column.  The numbers tied, except for thinking/feeling.

E/I, S/I, T, J/P  (and T was only one point more than F)

The book went into a lot of detail but didn't address ties, so I guess it doesn't happen much.

wow! ties on all of them? how strange....the test i took was an extended version too.

Supposedly there are 16 combinations, i think...and of those 16 mine is only in like 2 percent of the population....which i THINK was my therapist way of saying that there was nothing she could do for me.... ::)

Oh, neat!  I judge myself as INTJ - "Dominant Introverted Intuition" (out of the 16 different types).
I read the description and it seems right on.
Fun!

If that's what she's saying, she's not worth much.  I took the test the first time about 15 years ago and was an INFP.  I took it in my mid-twenties and I was an ESTP.  I took it last year and tied.  The test isn't the most exact thing around, but I do think it was reflective of my personality at the time.  We shift and grow.  I'm sure down the road I won't tie anymore.

If you are on a path of growth, your personality will change as you go.  You're an INFJ now (and there's nothing wrong with that), it's unlikely you're going to be an INFJ for the rest of your life even if you wanted to be one.

Me too!

Sweet!  You should make this into a poll, VHZ, and see how many of each type we have here.

The website has a tiny link that explains each combo:

You can click on each one and see what it's like (2 combos for each "type").

ESFP, according to that link.

A test I took last year said I was ENFP, though. I think ESFP describes me better, though.

I took that test last year for this class, and then we all had to stand in a row so we could see how we lined up.  I can't remember my score, but the combinations each had a blurb about you.  I am "less competent than I appear to be"  Thanks personality test for the backhanded comment.

humm, i tried to change it to a pol...i cant figure it out. Ive posted polls before...is that just because this is the free-for-all board?

Someone else had a problem with that when we had just one board.  I think you can make a poll when you create a topic, but you can't add one after the fact.  I forgot who it was, but they started a new thread with the poll.

I did the quick test and came up:

INFP

For INFPs the dominant quality in their lives is a deep-felt caring and idealism about people. They experience this intense caring most often in their relationships with others, but they may also experience it around ideas, projects, or any involvement they see as important. INFPs are often skilled communicators, and they are naturally drawn to ideas that embody a concern for human potential. INFPs live in the inner world of values and ideals, but what people often first encounter with the INFP in the outer world is their adaptability and concern for possibilities.

And I'm not sure if thats right or not, especially this part: ". INFPs are often skilled communicators, and they are naturally drawn to ideas that embody a concern for human potential."

I did the long version of the test because I didn't trust myself to not try and pick what I thought I wanted to be.  It was easier for me to just answer a bunch of questions unbiasdly.  I'm a:
