Anybody want to do a cookbook trade?

I have an extra American Vegan Kitchen ("Delicious Comfort Food from Blue Plate Specials to Homestyle Favorites"), and would like to trade for a new book. I did this with Lebkuchen before, and it worked perfectly!
I would trade if you had something I wanted....not that I have much to offer though :'(

Well, what do you have to offer?
nothing you don't already have, I'm sure....
and the rest you probably wouldn't want....
can I offer you something else, other than a cookbook? like a photo of me as a child, or perhaps something with poison??
I have this cookbook, it's not vegan but could easily be converted to vegan, i've made many receipes in this book as vegan: Betty Crocker Easy Everyday Vegetarian : Meatless Main Dishes You'll Love!

maybe!
dprince, I have plenty of non vegan cookbooks, but thanks.
A friend of mine bought me "The Accidental Vegan" a while back. I've never used it.

Amazon preview looks kinda.... boring? Do you not like it?
Some of the recipes are just really simple, and other ones are foreign foods that I've never tried before. I need to psych myself up before I try new things, and I just wasn't into this cookbook.
what's wrong with American Vegan Kitchen, hmmm?
I have some at home I might trade. Just can't think of all of them now... there's Native Foods and Now and Zen Epicure, and prolly some others...
I BET YOU WANT THE JAPANESE ONE.

Oh, it's good! I just have two of them. I thought I mentioned that! Let me know which ones you want to trade. I want Japanese food, but I probably wouldn't be able to find the ingredients to make the recipes.
I have:
Now and Zen Epicure
Native Foods
Flavors of India
The Greek Vegetarian (not vegan)
Fresh from the Vegetarian Slow Cooker
I have a new hardcover edition of Raw: The Uncook Book that I would love to swap. Description at Amazon

I'm a big fan of cooked foods. ;) It looks like a nice book, though.
fb, how is Native Foods? It looks pretty good on Amazon.
it doesn't have any pictures of food (boo!), but it has a cool thing on making seitan from scratch (the whole rinsing off the starch thing) with photos. But I've never gotten myself to do that so... yeah.
A lot of the recipes are pretty simple, and most of the ingredients could probably be found in a regular grocery store. There are recipes for basic things, like preparing TVP for tacos or as "italian ground," some chutneys, salad dressings, salsas, marinara, other sauces, miso soup, lentil soup, stir fries, etc.
Some recipes I really like:
Black Creek Ranch Dressing
Curry Lime Vinaigrette
Jessie's BBQ Sauce
Rockin' Moroccan Marinade (has OJ, lemon juice, oregano, turmeric, thyme, etc)
Atomic Split Pea Soup
Fleetwood Macaroni Salad
Thai Slaw
Mung Curry
Rasta Pasta Primavera
Coconut Groove Rice
Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Carrot Cake with Dream Cheese Frosting*
Chai Pumpkin Pie
Mr. Weld's Banana Cream Pie
Elephant Chocolate Cake
Peanut Butter Cinnamon Topping
Sam's Vegan Cheesecake*
*BEST EVER. The carrot cake uses OJ concentrate, which is weird, but makes it delicious.
There's also recipes for hollandaise sauce, stroganoff, cabbage rolls, sweet and sour nuggets, (but I haven't tried them). There are actually a lot of recipes I haven't tried; I think it's hard for me to get motivated without pictures or for stuff I haven't had at the restaurant.
One of the problems I had with the book, though, is that I couldn't make some of my favorite things from the restaurant because the "chicken" stuff they use is some sort of TVP chicken breast imitation that I've never seen in stores. Everything with it is tasty (Chinese Save-the-Chickens Salad, Save-the-Chickens Wings, Mad Cowboy, etc), so that's unfortunate. Apparently the "brests" come from http://www.healthy-eating.com/texturedsoy.html , but I didn't really care to order from somewhere for a single item =/ Of course you could sub any fake chicken, but I wanted the stuff from the restaurant... but evidently not that badly.
I've only had two things not turn out:
Native Ch'is ("cheese")
Jungle Boogie Bars
With the ch'is, I was supposed to use agar but didn't, and it really needs it (it was too liquidy without), so that was my bad. I've had it at the restaurant, and it's great. Same thing for the Boogie Bars - I've gotten them at the restaurant for years, but when I made them they weren't that great or the same.
So, good recipes for some basic stuff, a lot of fresh ingredients, a number of things to make from scratch, a lot of California- and southwest-type combinations. Like adding lime and cilantro to lots of things, haha.
Well, that sounds like simple stuff, but some good stuff. You're the front runner, I'll wait a couple days to see if there are any other offers. :winktongue:

I am too, which is why I am having trouble with my plan of trying to make a 1/3 to 2/3 of my diet raw. :p
Raw is a really nice book full of really well put together recipes that fill you nicely. *But* it really isn't an everyday meals book, which is more what I need from a raw book.

Yeah, and American Vegan Kitchen wouldn't help you one bit on that journey!
Actually if it had decent makeovers of traditional American food it would be helpful, as I miss a number of dishes from childhood.
After digging though my stash, I also have a copy of The Venturesome Vegetarian up for trade. Venturesome @ Amazon
I was told that AVK is worth like 30 RFDs... :hrmm:
