Disneyworld

Has anyone been to Disneyworld recently and know what the veg/vegan options are like? Are there any exclusively veg restaurants near or at Disney?

Thanks!

You couldn't get me to go to Disneyworld if you held a gun to my head. As for vegan choices, I wouldn't be too optimistic. They are more likely to feed you the ground up carcass of genuine American culture which they helped kill off with their disgusting, saccharin-coated commercialized imitation of it.

Sorry. Not the answer you were looking for I know.  ;)

The Harbor Town restaraunt near the Haunted Mansion has become a mostly veg cafe, with hummus sandwiches, salads, and veg chili. There's also a place near the Cinderella castle that serves a tofu noodle bowl, and there was an eatery at Animal Kingdom that offered a Boca burger.

Can you tell I've been to Disney World many times? ;D They've really improved their veg selection. I went there for Thanksgiving and we had our "feast" at Liberty Inn, and I'm thinking oh sh!t, I'll have to eat side dishes. But, lo and behold, they brought me a great dish - stir-fried veggies over a bed of bulgar. Yum! Nice to see that they're at least trying to meet demand and with appetizing dishes, unlike certain fast food eateries. ::)

There is a restaurant outside of orlando =about 15 min away that is Chinese and serves ALL meat substitutes. It is awesome!  The stuff is called "duck, chicken, beef" etc....but none is real. The eff drop soop does have egg though. WELL worth the trip!!!!

EDIT its called The Garden Cafe at 810 W. Colonial. I recommend the house chicken or orange beef.

There is a book called the Disney vegetarian guide.....I found it not all that helpful though, as some of the stuff was discontinued. I think I would still pick up a copy if I were you. I got it used on Amazon for just a few dollars.

I hated Disney, but that's just me. I hope you have fun!!!

Well, you Sour Sallys, I went to disney world this past june! It was totally fun fun fun and I saw Aladdin, Snow White, and a bunch of fat kids. ANYWAY-vegetarian options are everywhere (the usual side salads, etc) but as for vegans you might have a bit more trouble. BUT, right outside disney they have TONSSSSSS of restaurants to pick from, so good luck!

This is easily the best description I've seen of Disney World, or any theme park for that matter! ;D

I was actually reading something yesterday about options in various "fast" food places and when I went to go look for it again to answer, I found this
http://www.geocities.com/vegetariandisney/

All the links on the right list the different parks, the places to eat in them, and the prices of the vegetarian (most look like they could be made vegan by leaving off certain things) options at each place.  Someone had a lot of time on their hands while in the most magical place on earth

We were in Disneyworld with 4 vegans, 2 vegetarians and 2 meateaters.  We ate in Morocco and the food was fantastic (along with the very beautiful belly dancer).  There were places that offered veg burgers (which our vegans ate after close questioning) and I think we even had some bean burritos (but can't remember what restaurant).  Of course, outside the complex, there are great restaurants; italian, chinese, japanese, etc.  I loved Disneyworld and would like to go back.  I especially loved Epcot.  I know Morocco is open for lunches as well.

;D

Standing in the middle of Disneyworld would be my worst nightmare actualized. Basically hell on earth.

EDIT: This is just my opinion!!!! It has no bearing on the people who do or do not like Disneyworld. (Sheesh, I had to say that. I just realized how many people on this board are not on the Fair Game list!)

ugh.
i went to disneyworld with the marching band for school, and i ate potatoes for like EVERY meal.
we didnt go to any of the sit down restaurants, so i ended up getting french fries.
all the time because im not a salad fan. it was pretty awful. i found a website that has a list of restaurants there that have vegan stuff or will make vegan stuff so i guess just google vegan disneyworld and see what you find.

and this is unrelated to finding food to eat, but it's funny.
so at disneyworld, they sell turkey legs or some sort of LARGE drumstick.
i saw people walking around eating them and it was really gross because it really REALLY looked like dead animal, all stringy and pinkish. but that's not the worst part. worst part is, i saw this (very fat) woman holding TWO of them, one in EACH HAND, and eating BOTH of them.
AT THE SAME TIME.
it was hysterical, like those pictures they show when they talk about obesity on the news.
..or maybe i'm the only one who thinks that's funny..
(:

Ugh.  Seriously.  I'm sure I will love my kids, but I cannot take them to Disneyworld.  Hell on Earth.  (IMHO ofcourse)
