Yuck! I just ate a red pepper and saw tons of mold surrounding the seeds

I didn't even notice that when I cut off a few pieces to eat in my salad....which I ate. :-\
I guess I should be ok?
It wasn't on the outside of the actual sweet pepper but in the seeds all around. :-[ How it got in the inside but not the actual layer baffles me??
Organic red pepper from whole foods no less. barf!
Oh please, I'd eat that any day and not think twice about it (although I eat food off the floor in my own house). No worries-- I figure it's akin to cutting a brown spot off an apple and eating the rest.

Haha, you and I are twins in this regard, shar. Mold, shmold! You're fine. I pick mold off of fruit and eat the rest all the time. Haven't died yet.
i'm with sharway and KMK. just this morning I opened a NEW carton of strawberries from WF and found that the top most one was all moldy underneath. I threw that one away, but still ate some of them. Mold on things like bread though i never mess with. grosses me out.
Once I opened a red pepper and some kind of moth flew out. I marveled at this, because I could not find any kind of hole whatsoever on it where the said moth could have gotten in, but....nature never reveals her secrets, I guess.
I'm sure it was fine to eat the nonmoldy parts. (I ate the moth pepper and I'm still here).
I don't eat food that had mold on it. My digestive system is so messed up I'm afraid I'd be sick for weeks.
I'm still alive. :) I just never saw mold inside something that looked perfect on the outside. Esp. red pepper.

I've seen this. It just means the cold store they kept it in was damp...and obviously that the spores got on it somewhere between the field and you.
You don't mess with bread mould, SOG? That's what gave us penicillin. It won't kill you and it might cure whatevah. ;D
yeah i eat moldy and rotten things all the time hehe.. my favorite thing to do with moldy corn tortillas is wash them in running water while wiping off all the green mold, then making enchiladas with them.. heh.. you cant even tell.. or my infamous sourdough bread made with "fizzy" pineapple juice.. so good
dont ever mess with moldy nuts tho.. that shit will kill you.. seriously
Ew. Ever started eating a red pepper raw only to find a worm in it? Nastiest thing ever.

All I have to say is that you are a braver woman than I.
I have been eating "experienced" food since I was little. Maybe that's why I so seldom get sick. Like George Carlin who swam in raw sewage in the Hudson.
Nowadays I *do* occasionally toss food that is "on the turn" or that simply didn't quite work...and hear my late mother scolding me as I do so. Ah, sweet rebellion! I never rebelled as an adolescent so it's quite fun to do it now when I know she can't give me a quick smack round the ear 'ole.

I see it in bell peppers with irritating frequency.
I get moldy peppers all the time. I am a magnet to them or something. I get totally grossed out easily so I toss it.
