Have any one of you tried the Chocoreale Organic Vegan Chocolate Spreads that's listed on VeganEssentials?
I'm so tempted to order all three flavors without even knowing what they taste like... they all sound so good!
I haven't tried it, but there's a recipe for NOT-ella in Veganomicon. I haven't made it yet, but plan to for the holidays.
I have tried it and it is amazing! It is really good with fruit. It is kind of expensive, but it definitely hits the spot. The one I tried was the duo or something like that - it had two kinds of chocolate. Yum!
No clues on Chocoreale, but FWIW I just bought this one and it's not great. I thought it was going to be Nutella-like, but in fact it's more like a sundae sauce. But I see it's 99 cents b/c of the expiration date, so if you like sundae sauce, go nuts! (Expiration dates don't bother me, but especially something like this, which is not really perishable at all.)
im not much help but just wanted to chime in to point out joy of vegan baking also has a recipe for it too. im pretty sure its only like 3 ingredients and really simple to throw together. i have not done so yet because im afraid of what i might do with a tub of 'not-tella'...
:D
OMG NUTELLA! WANT! :D
That is the only thing I'd be seriously tempted to eat. If some one does try the purchasable vegan one please report back and inform me! Although, chocolate peanut butter is a pretty good substitute.

I'dl love to know too - my 13 year old could life off that on bananas and it is a tempting thing when I watch her slather them :) But I am seriously addicted to the banana chocolate chip muffins in TJOVB and my husband makes them for me regularly - LOL - when I start referring to the bananas as muffin fruit!
I haven't even bothered checking to see if there are store brand versions, but I'll certainly give that a shot.
Otherwise, I think I'm going to go for it and order the brand on VeganEssentials based on what Finnegan said. And of course, I'll report back when I do!
i just saw a couple flavors from this company at the store the other day and thought of this thread -
http://www.futtersnutbutters.com/flavored_nutbutters.html
it looks like you can find it in some whole foods and other markets (it was $5 where i saw it) and they sell it online. they have a chocolate macadamia nut flavor on their site but i was so tempted by the chocolate cherry hazelnut at the store. (i was strong and resisted though!)
when i was in montreal there was a store brand "nutella" that was vegan. it totally made my conferance that much more fantastic. i think checking store brands might be worth it, although it might depend on where you're at.
Do you happen to remember what store/brand?
i just saw another one in the isreali foods section of meijers
www.zahavafoods.com/index.php?src=directory&view=demo&srctype=display&refno=112&category=Sweet%20and%20Fruit%20Spreads&PHPSESSID=93ef04b15...
the dark chocolate flavor is vegan and it was only 3bucks or so. i resisted.
I wonder if anyone has ever come up with the homemade version...all it is, is chocolate, hazelnuts, what else? I'm sure we could come up with the homemade vegan version of Nutella. I'm gonna try next time I see hazelnuts at the HFS...any ideas or suggestions???
yeah- i mean the recipe in joy of vegan baking is pretty basic.. only 3 ingredients, it's super simple.
I just ate the dark chocolate Chocoreale earlier today with a spoon because I didn't have any bread. ;D
It's pretty good, not quite Nutella good but close.
I've never actually had Nutella...so I cannot attest to it's magical goodness. But, at Target today in the nut butter section, I saw the Nutella, sighed at the dairy-badness of it all, and immediatley saw this jar labeled Dark Chocolate peanut butter spread. Out of curiousity I read the label and TA-DA! It's vegan! ( In case anybody is interested, it's made by Archer Farms.) Right now I am eating a Rice Cake slathered in it, because they're you know, diet. Heh. No really though, this stuff is yummmmmmmmy.
