Rainbow cupcakes?

I am obsessed with the idea of baking rainbow cupcakes, but all the recipes that I find on the Internet are usually not vegan. Such as this one :`

I wonder if I were to use the vanilla cupcake recipe from VCTOTW if it would work, I don't see why it wouldn't... What do you think? :)
Not helpful either, but those look amazingly cool and tasty.
DO IT.
;D
I'm pretty sure it would work with any cupcake recipe. They look so cool! I gotta try to make these too! So cool!
ohmygoshhhh. i'm so happy you posted this. We make crazy cakes to sell for this auction at school
I think i'll make a rainbow and mabye chicken shaped cake :)>>>
Try it!! show us how they turn out!
those are so cute!! let us know how it works - the only thing i can think of changing is maybe reducing the other liquid by a smidge.. if you're only adding 1 drop of color to each batter for a pastel i wouldnt worry about it, but adding a whole capfull to each layer could add up..
It seems like any white or yellow cake recipe would work. I have never seen anything like that before. They are so cool!
I just decided, i'm going to make these. They just look so yummy!
Whenever i get to go to the store at least..
We'll both take pictures and post them on this thread! I think that's what I'm going to do tonight! ;)b
Why chicken shaped, particularly?
Would a chicken shaped vegan cake still be vegan? :-D
Yes! I just looked and i think i have everything to make cake :)>>>
This will be my first cake in a year!!!
First vegan cake, yay!
I found neon food coloring, i think i might try using that to see if i can get extra bright cake.
And the chicken shape, hah. The auction is for FFA. and we make odd shaped cakes, i make a chicken and something else every year, just my odd tradition. Hah
Heres last years. They change from year to year though, soemtimes the chicks have heads, sometimes the chicken has big wings..... haha.

ETA - The chickens/chicks are using the neon coloring, except the orange
So, i'm using this recipe

And, i've never made cake from scratch (except when i was like 5 and claimed that i made half of it when all i did was mix)
Would i still use the same oven temp, and just lower the time for cupcakes?
Or lower the temp as well?
Generally, use the same temp for cupcakes as for a large cake, just shorten the time. My cake mix at home says 15min, but I would start at 10 and watch em like a hawk!!! Burnt cupcakes are sad.

I realized i did the colors backwards halfway through, haha.
They were yummy and amazing looking
It was kind of hard to get the layers semi even and covering the whole thing. But regardless, they're amazinggg lookingggggggg
i'm defifnatly making a rainbow chicken
those are awesome!! so did you keep the original liquid the same even though you added capfulls of coloring?
Yep, i kept it the same, it was about 6 drops or so of coloring, the ones that i had to mix colors used more though.
It might have been easier to lower the liquid level a tad bit, though its very moist and yummy. It would just help with the spreading the color, spooning it in was kind of difficult, because you couldnt use that much or you'd totally load up the cupcake things, i almost did, if i put any more in they would have been hugee and messed up looking probably.
Next time i'll try it with a thicker batter, or less liquid and see. I think i might make all my cake colorful now :)>>>
I saw them on the front page! Amazing!
"favourite white/yellow cake"... not white no longer! muhahaha. ;D
That's awesome fun. You tastes the rainbow? :>
Haha, thats what i was thinking, the name must be changed to white/yellow/rainbow cake
They seem better, just because of the color.
I brought one to my friend tonight, i was like, i made cupcakes. and he looked at it and freaked out haha.
<3
I want to see how yours turn out, melthibs!!!!
Must see pictures!
very impressive undersarah!!!
these would be really cute if you did them different shades of the same color too - like different shades of pink for valentines day.. greens for st. patricks, all pastels for easter, etc..
