Pizza poll!

The question is self-evident. What kind of crust do you like best on your pizza?
And then again--what are your favourite toppings?
For me, thin and crisp crust is best.
I like black olives, onions, fresh basil leaves, mushrooms and lots of sauce. And that's just for starters.
I picked thin, but not too thin
I'd say 'hand-tossed' is my favorite - that's how my crust usually turns out - not too thin, not too thick. But I have started experimenting with deep dish and I must say, it's pretty delicious! I've never attempted to make a thin crust pizza...
I prefer thin, because I'd rather fill up on lots of toppings than bread.
As for favorite toppings, there are so many things I like on pizza that it'd be hard to list them all (however, I don't like tons of different toppings on one pizza. You can taste individual flavors better if you keep it to 5 toppings or less, IMO). I love tomatoes on pizza, fresh or sun dried. And mushrooms. Those are probably my absolute favorites.
I also like to use different sauces, even though I love the usual tomato-based sauce. Pesto, garlic & olive oil, pumpkin with garlic and herbs, BBQ sauce, refried beans (for a Mexican-themed pizza), etc.
We made some good Moroccan-themed pizza the other night with harissa sauce (homemade harissa, tomato paste, and olive oil) with roasted eggplant, zucchini, red peppers, and kalamata olives. It was awesome.
The best kind of pizza is crisp and crusty on the bottom, bubbly and chewy around the edges, and a little soft and squishy with absorbed moisture underneath the toppings. Thickness isn't the most important thing; the crust just shouldn't be too spongey or bready.

Ditto!
I generally load up with jalapenos and fresh pineapple or jalapenos and mushrooms or jalapenos and jalapenos!
:)
It depends on my mood I think! Most of the time we prefer thin...then load it with onions, green pepper, red pepper, mushrooms and sometimes artichokes. I'm not a huge fan of red sauce on pizza, so we usually do a garlic sauce or a pesto type sauce. And I love breadsticks with my pizza!

Mmm, yes, jalapenos are another favorite. Anything spicy really.
Deep dish or gtfo

I can call a truce with your deep dish if the outside is crispy. Actually, I'm not sure I've ever had a deep-dish pizza. I think you need to send emissaries.
I am pretty down with anything on my pizza, but if i order, i go for pineapple mushrooms and onion. we just did a pizza party at my house last week, and picked a good variety of things out of the garden and i made some tvp italian sausage. we also did katamala and garlic stuffed green olives along with black, some zucchini about 4 different types of peppers. pizza stone is the way to go.
this is very relevant to my interests.......it is friday and in our house FRIDAY NIGHT = PIZZA NIGHT
I'm on a real deep dish thing at the moment......my favourite is deep dish topped with homemade tomatoey sauce, VCon BBQ sauce blobbed on, seitan sausage, onion, mushroom, corn, jalapeno, avocado and cheezy sprinkle. YAYAYAYYAY!!!! PIZZA!!!
I'm not sure I've ever had "deep dish" pizza. What's the crust like?

Thick and bready, sometimes chewy....slightly crunchy on the bottom and crust around the edges. It's actually hard to make to get the dough done where it isn't raw on the inside, but isn't overdone and burnt on the bottom. "Chicago style" is heavy on the ingredients too. Not my favorite.
I've never made deep dish pizza at home. I usually make a regular style crust. I don't really like super thin crust, because I love to dip the edges in srirachi when all the toppings are already in my belly and regular-ish crust works better for that. Plus, thin crust pizza gets flimsy once it cools down. Then your reheated pizza is soggy. Bleh!
If the bread is nice, tasty, chewy and a bit crusty.. I don't actually mind whether it's thick or thin. But due to my carbivorous tendencies, it's best for me to go for a thin crust so I don't load up on bready goodness. :hotforyou:
I sauce the base with a spread made of tomato paste, herbs, garlic, paprika, salt, pepper and a little sugar. I usually dice zucchini and peppers, halve some kalamatas and finely slice some red onion. If I have fresh spinach I might toss a bit of that on. Jalapenos are an optional but common addition.
thick crust always with lots of sauce.
I like it topped with tomatoes and garlic.
