New brownie debate

I seem to be the only person I know who likes the middle pieces.  Which works well for me, because I don't need to fight over the corners/edges.  Which do you prefer?

I like the middles! I used to hate edges and corners, but I've made peace with all sides of the pan.

I like both. I've always leaned more towards middle pieces, but in the past i grew closer with my edge brownie friends. Mmm. I want to make brownies now.

Now I want some nice, fudgy, middle-piece brownies. Mmmm.

Oh totally the middles.

But I crumble the edges and put them on oatmeal.

Shea - I love love love that!!

When i was little i made my brother think i loved the corners so he'd eat them and laugh at me. But i was strictly middle pieces only. haha. He still runs up and steals them if we have brownies.

Walnuts, well that's another debate right there...

We need to make a poll across three dimensions:

- Fudgy vs. cakey
- Corners/edges vs. middles
- Nuts vs. none

Ooh, this is getting complicated.  And what about chocolate chips?

Fudgy, mainly middles, some edges, rarely corners, sometimes nuts-pecans, but mostly not, definitely chocolate chips, occasional powdered sugar on top..

Frosting?

Frosting?

I tend to dislike it, because one of the endearing things about brownies is their crispy tops.

Also, for the corner/edge lovers:

I remember when I first saw that and I thought it was interesting that someone would only want brownie edges.

I remember when I first saw that and I thought it was interesting that someone would only want brownie edges.

That was my reaction too.  Up to that point I was unaware that the edges were more desirable to some people.  Now if someone could invent an all-middle pan....

I don't like brownie frosting; frosting is for cakes..and some cookies.

See I like the middles and the edges so it works out for me.  An all-middle pan solution is like those uncrustables sandwiches. lol.

an all-middle pan would have to be spherical (with a hollow center). I doubt that's going to be invented any time soon...

I think the edge pan would be good for cornbread.

I like middles, but I am tolerant of edges.
I've had plenty of good cakey vegan brownies, and only a few good fudgey (genuinely fudgey!) ones, so I tend to be cakey-biased. Attempts to make fudgey brownies generally fail for me...
No walnuts. Walnuts should only be eaten alone, not in things (gross!). I am open to the idea of toasted pecans on top though. Indeed...
No frosting. A good, rich, fudgey brownie is so rich, good, and fudgey that frosting would be overkill.
No chocolate chips. Again, if the brownie is rich enough, no one will taste the chocolate chips.
Things that should contain chocolate chips:
- cookies
- blondies
- mah belly

Edges!  With chocolate chips.  Possibly with a light dusting of powdered sugar.  I prefer my brownies nut free but if there might be 1 walnut in an edge piece well I would still eat it!

How can edges be falling behind in the voting, when every pan of brownies has more edges than middles? Oh well, more brownie goodness for us edge fans I guess. ^-^
