Best chocolate chip cookie recipe on vegweb?

soo my dad would like me to bake some choco chi cookies for Thanksgiving this year...and I want them to be BANGING!~ which recip do you all recommend...vegan desserts are yummy and I NEED to pove it so to my vegan ignorant biased fam.... ;) ;)

Well, I haven't tried them all, so I can't say for sure which recipe is best....
(Perhaps I should conduct a thorough round of taste testing?)

But I really like the "Chocolate Chip Cookies Like They Should Be" (http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=12657.0)  I used 2/3 c. applesauce and 1/2 c. Earth Balance instead of the quantities given, and they were nice and squishy and moist and delish.

If your family likes lotsa things mixed into their cookies, "Jennys Famous Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal, Coconut, Walnut Cookies" (http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=6181.0) are fantastic.  I made a batch at home once and my dad ate practically all of them in a day.  With all the goodies jam-packed into one cookie, you really can't go wrong.

Good luck!  Let us know how they turn out!

omg yes! and especially if they could blow out chocolate steam!

*Starts humming "Good Ship Lolly Pop"*
(It's a bit tougher to make the words "Good Ship Chocolate Chip Cookie" fit the tune, though.)

I know that no one else is as dumb as me, but this topic reminded me. Like last year I was just sitting in my kitchen...being a loser, looking around.  We had a bag of Chips Ahoy cookies in the cabinet at the time and I looked at them for a minute and BAM CHIPS ahoy...like ships ahoy. 18 years of ignorance.
I felt smart.

aww, i can tell you what the ingredients are........

1 c "butter" (room temp--- important!)
1.25 c sugar
1 TB molasses
2 tsp vanilla
2.5 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1.5 c chocolate SHIPS !!!

you mix the butter, sugar, wet stuff all together until creamy and then mix with all the dry stuff. you might have to add a little soymilk if it is dry. if you beat the wet long enough the sugar will melt... and you won't have to add soymilk it will be wet enough!

350 for 8 minutes... yummmm

ohhh, i love molasses in cookies. i am going to have to make these soon.

it never occurred to me... so don't feel bad! 19 years of ignorance, and I didn't even figure it out for myself...

oh yeah, true. i like flatter, too. they look like they would be flatter just by the ingredients, though.

OMG BP, you're right...those are the best!!
i just made them, and had to add a little shortening (i was a bit short on EB) and some soymilk, but DANG them are some goood coookies!
that makes a ton, too, so i saved some dough in the freezer. (which i dont know will ever make it to the oven  :P)

LA - have you made the tollhouse-like cookies on here? if you have, how do the ones you just made compare to those?  i think i'm pretty much wanting exact replicas of tollhouse cookies like my mom makes every year...

omg those VWAV cookies are amazing. there are like 8 people at my house right now that all love them. and they are all omni's. mmMMMmmmm...

no, i havent made those... ive tried some other ones on here, but dont remember which ones i liked.
these ones i just made smelled just  like i wish my mother had made em when we were young  ::)...but hers were always lacking.
these are soft, not really fluffy, but not so flat that there isnt anything to them.
this makes a huge batch, so maybe you could make a half batch and give em a try.

i dont know how crispy its possible to make vegan cookies...b/c i thought that EB/ shortening is supposed to give the cookie a chewier texture, and butter makes it crispier. but i think someone mentioned that NRG makes cookies crispy.
so, basically, im no help!  :-\

but do tell if you make the tollhouse-like ones.

I have a question about the recipe.
It calls for "butter" at room temperature.
Isn't Earth Balance melted at room temperature?

Or is it supposed to be melted?

i think it should be very very soft, not totally melted, b/c when you mix it, it will loosen up.
i mixed it a bit when i left it out, so that the "outer" part of my measured EB lump wasnt all liquidy and the inside still solid.

when you "cream" it in the mixer *whip it up*... it should become fluffy, not an oily mess....then add your sugar and whip well.

Roger.

If I only I had an electric mixer..... :-\
Guess I'll have to rely on the good ol' whisk and some elbow grease!
