My cat is an ethical warrior

Okay, technically he isn't because he does love his meaty cat food. But my parents bought a new sofa and chairs made of leather while I was away at university, and now he's protesting by sitting on the windowsill instead. He will not touch the thing.

(And I wondered why they didn't tell me they were replacing the old set...)

It's pretty disgusting how leather is associated with "high end." High end furniture, high end cars. Retch.

What do your parents say about your cats aversion?

Cats have more class than most humans. I've always known that and this is a case in point. What animal would lie down on the remains of another? Eat it, certainly, but not sit on it.

Cats have a highly developed ethical sensibility.

My mom had a cat for years (before I was born) and when she was moving, the mail carrier was so sorry to hear it. Turns out that the cat had followed the mail carrier on his rounds every day for years, and if any aggressive dog tried to attack the mail carrier, the cat would jump on the dog's back, sink in his claws, and ride him away!

I honestly don't think they've noticed. And if they have, they've probably put it down to the fact that the arms are way smaller than the old ones so sitting on them isn't so comfy. It's probably true. But I do wonder if it isn't like Yabbitgirl said - the cats realise what it is and just aren't happy with it in their living space. Possibly because in the wild it would mean a carcass, which isn't healthy to have near your sleeping/living space? I don't know.

Are we talking about the same animals here?  I'm thinking about cats--you know the animals who mercessly PLAY with their live food before they kill it....

Good point. Like omni humans, they can be a study in contrasts.
