Found a cat, moving in three weeks, rescues full, what to do?
I found this gorgeous Maine Coon cat (I think she's female--so poofy I can't tell!) wandering around our apartment complex filthy, skinny (she doesn't look skinny because of her fur, but I can feel her ribs when I pick her up), and wearing a nasty, dirty flea collar (which is now in the trash). I took her inside, gave her some dinner, and she's relaxing comfortably in our spare bedroom away from the other cats.
I would totally keep her if we didn't already have three and we weren't moving in three weeks into a rental that is already being generous by not having us put down a deposit or pay pet rent. Plus, our budget is tight right now until we move and start some better paying jobs. The shelters are full to the max here because kitten season has already started, and since she's an adult, she would likely be put down in three days if not adopted. I don't know what to do. I have a friend who might be interested, and one of my fellow rescue volunteers knows someone who takes in cats and might be able to. What other options do I have, if any?

She is quite lovely. Her tail is HUGE! I put up a couple flyers in case she is someone's cat, but she is so dirty that I'm hesitant to give her back. And it looks like that damn flea collar was on her for a while--her fur is totally smashed down where her collar was. I tried to brush it out, but it's going to take a while.
there's petfinder and of course, craigslist..... You could post pics on them and look for a home that way. Good luck!! She is a gorgeous kitty!!

There are some shady ass people who look for pets on craigslist, I found out. I tried that once with another rescue (who we just ended up keeping because people are idiots) and won't do it again.
Put up signs at the grocery store with her picture on it. You may find a happy family to take her. Would your local shelters let you put up a sign there too? Maybe at vet offices or the post office.
I would paper the town to find her a good home. hehe What a beauty.
My family and I are suckers, you have kitties outside the grocery store and we will stop and take one (or two) home with us. Thats how my mother has gotten most of her cats and how I got Gryphy. *nods* No one can resist the adorable feline looking pathetic in front of the store.
So, I found a Maine Coon rescue that replied quickly to me, so hopefully we can at least find her a foster home soon. Thanks for the advice, folks! I've put up some flyers and posted an ad on Facebook to see if any of my friends would be interested.
Will report back if kitty finds a foster. I stole a name from Storm's poll--her name is Josie for the time being ;D
Good news. I was going to suggest contacting a maine coon rescue. She's gorgeous. MCs are my favorite, behind Cat 8) , because they are so big, fluffy, and mellow. Cat is just big and mellow.
