Wolves walking around with traps on their necks

I read this the other day. This is in Alaska. They're worried about tourism. >:( Trapping is so barbaric in every aspect. This whole thing disgusts me beyond words. Note the dates the two wolves were seen and the date of this article. If they're still alive, I can't imagine their suffering. :'(
Okay, here is another link that you don't have to register on. There is a picture of one of the wolves with the trap on its neck. You can click to enlarge it. Not gory, just very sad and outrageous.

That's horrible.
Absolutely heartbreaking! How can this be legal? Seriously, a metal trap around the neck, WTF!
:'( Those pictures just kill me because the wolves look so much like my dog. :'(
omg!! :'(
I just realized this article doesn't mention that the other wolf, the black one they refer to, was said to have had a very swollen face due to the trap around its neck, so much so, that the wolf looked more like a bear than a wolf when they last saw that one in March. This isn't even mentioned in this particular article but it is in the other article. :'(
This story has made me wish I lived in Alaska. If I did, I think I'd do some hiking on that state-owned land where the traps are and destroy them. This is a situation where civil disobedience is warranted. Somebody is probably going to tell me that the trappers depend on the income from their trapping to survive. They should move to where the real jobs are and get a more humane source of income!
I did live in Alaska. I understand your concern. But if you tried to find the traps and destroy them, you would harldly put even the tiniest amount of them. Alaska is so vast it is unbelievable. There is just miles and miles and miles of wilderness. There is nothing here in the lower 48 that even comes close to how vast Alaska is. You could spend a lifetime searching out and destroying traps and you wouldn't do even an ounce of good. Even if it was made against the law I don't think it would help much. Alaska is just so HUGE how could you possibly police it? I think the only good that would do is if it was made illegal to sell, or buy wolf fur in both the US and Canada, and made illegal to export to foreign countries.
To give you an idea, if you were to take the state of Alaska and put it over the continental US it would stretch from Dallas, TX to Soux Falls, ND, and from Denver, CO to Washington DC.
