Over 1100 Palestinians killed, 350 children. Regardless of whom you think is at "fault", bombing a city full of civilians, 55% children, bombing all the UN food and medical supplies, bombing hospitals. These are considered war crimes. Dropping white phosphorus on a civilian population is the same as dropping napalm in Vietnam. I urge protest and divestment. If anything, fight for the rights of children to food, water, and shelter, regardless of your political feelings on the situation. http://www.democracynow.org/

i really liked the bbc explanation, the link is on the gaza site. to me it seemed like, gazans were allowed to do this, but then israel decided against it. gazans could get these supplies, but then israel cut off the supply. gazans were allowed to build this, but never completed it. just awful. it reminds me of that movie, escape from new york, where all of new york was turned into a large jail. no wonder they're fighting back. thats all they can do. they dont have oil, they dont have proper sewage systems, they dont have proper water systems, they cant import or export anything, they cant go anywhere, what do you expect them to do! sit there and twiddle their thumbs?? bah humbug. bad israel.... very baaad.
eta: and egypt... very bad... and ESPECIALLY the us for supporting israel, letting this happen and not putting in a vote at all for israel to cease fire.
Oh, how I wish I had been around for this discussion, though I pray to God there won't be another chance.
