Hezbollah Tofu blog
There are two people on the planet that I totally and equally despise, one's in the Oval office and the other one is the subject of Sara at the Hezbollah Tofu blog, Anthony Bourdain.

I want very much to make the "Les Halles Onion Soup". My DH adores onion soup and the vegan version I made once just didn't satisfy him. I really like the idea behind the blog:
"So we aren't just going to "enjoy" food, we're going to enjoy vastly improved, veganized versions of your masturbatory, blood-oozing recipes. And then we're going to compile them, sell them in zine form, and donate the proceeds to vegan outreach organizations and farm sanctuaries--in your name. Anthony, I have to say, I'm really looking forward to the great work we're going to do together for veganism."
I'll buy that 'zine! >:D 8-)
"Vegetarians, and their Hezbollah-like splinter faction, the vegans, are a persistent irritant to any chef worth a damn. To me, life without veal stock, pork fat, sausage, organ meat, demi-glace, or even stinky cheese is a life not worth living. Vegetarians are the enemy of everything good and decent in the human spirit, and an affront to all I stand for, the pure enjoyment of food."
- Anthony Bourdain, "Kitchen Confidential," p. 70
hahaha. is that a fictional character or something? stinky cheese? who says that? haha
What kind of wacko puts bacon in onion soup? I liked bacon and I liked onion soup, but together? :nono:
It's probably better to ignore such jackasses, but it is a funny idea and I like the charity angle.
There is a thread about his over on the PPK, since it was started by a member over there. i think it sounds like fun. I am full of ideas and can't wait to try to veganize something. I have a big Le Cordon Bleu professional cooking textbook left over from my undergrad that I intend to use as a reference, since I have not had meat in 21 years! Unfortunately, I am up to my ears in stats for my thesis and I am not sure how much time I will have to contribute.
I love that the proceeds from the cookbook will be donated to AR related causes in Anthony Bourdain's name.
What an awsome blog! Thanks for showing it to us! I'm going to try that soup someday when I have a lot of time to make soup...I can't wait to see what other recipes they come up with.
I had to bookmark that blog. It is too funny!
