Best Chicago Vegan Restaurant

Well, I'm sure there are some people on the board here who are from Chicago am I right? Well, if you haven't already (and I'm sure some of you who are have,) head over down Clark St. on Chicago's Northside--to probably one of the coolest little vegan cafe's in Illinois. The name of the cafe is called Pick-Me-Up. Has anyone heard of it? I figured if you have or haven't, I just want more and more people to actually go to the place. I go there time and time after shows, and I recently went there for my 21st birthday (I had to go.) What's really cool was, their wonderful service and staff. They didn't have my favorite vegan chocolate rice krispy treats; however though, they had vegan smore pie and vegan strawberry cake (which I bought a slice of both.) The waitress there (first I've seen in there period,) actually sat down with us and called me the "birthday king." Probably the best time I've had in a while at a restaurant  :)>>>. They also serve wonderful selections of coffee, alcohol, and non-vegan/vegetarian food (in case a friend goes with who isn't into that sort of thing.) The really neat part about it though, is that it's a small little shop that has a jukebox, where you can pick from many punk/indie bands. They also have these themed tables; which include a monopoly themed (paper money and the board embeded into the table,) as well as a 50's pin-up girl table (you can use your imagination here,) as well as a star wars themed (little cards and pictures embeded also in the tables.)

Some of their vegan goodies include:
Vegan Oreo Shakes
Vegan Mac N' Cheese
Vegan French Toast
Vegan Burgers
Vegan Tofu Breakfast Scrambles
Vegan Burritos
Various Vegan Desserts (cookies, brownies, krispy treats, cakes etc.)
Plus many other vegan friendly food that I can't think of off the top of my head.

So seriously, if your in the neighborhood in Chicago, around the wrigleyville area (preferably north side of Chicago) head on down to Clark St. I only mention this, because it's probably a very under rated restaurant, and I never hear anything about it in our newspapers at all.

The address:

3408 N Clark St
Chicago, IL 60657
(773) 248-6613

Oh, and by the way, this place is actually open 24 hours on the weekends, and 3am on regular week nights. So seriously, it's open practically all the time!

I swear to all that is holy, you would not only be happy, but you'd literally be in heaven! I forgot to mention, they have an incredible coffee bar with a like, glass case full of vegan foods and stuff they baked. There's tons of really cool old fashioned booths/seating. Not to mention, you can draw pictures and they'll put them up on the walls and stuff in there too. It's just seriously, one of the most relaxing atmosphere's ever.

This place sounds great! It's probably a good thing i don't live in the neighborhood, or i'd be there every night.
Count me in ponycakes!

I wish we had one of these restaurants in Iowa!!!  :'( Nothing here but burgers and fries!  :(  I've been in Chicago before, but haven't been there for years.  It sounds great though!  I would simply have a blast not having to ask about certain ingredients! :)

What's really cool about this place is though, they actually have odd changing menu items. For example, I went to a lot of Cubs games last summer. After each game, I'd simply walk down the street to this place and I'd ask them what things they'd have and they'd always change something. Most definitely their vegan desserts change. They had at one time, Chocolate Muse Vegan Pie. After the next game, vegan chocolate rice krispy treats, then vegan smore pie etc.
