Since we have the hummus recipe thread going... http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=17660.0
I though I'd ask everyone what they eat with their hummus.
Anyone do anything crazy like, strawberries and hummus??
I'm into baby carrots, celery and melba toast lately.
I love warmed pita wth it.
I will eat hummus with ANYTHING. once I was out of crunchy things so I poured a bunch of rice krispie-esque cereal in a bowl of hummus and started eating. it was great
I forgot to mention my husband eats it in borsch (russian beet soup that is traditionally served with a big plop of sour cream)
it's a great soup thickener.
and secondbase that is exactly the kind of answer i was waiting for!
you're a freak. ;) :-*
I serve mine with cucumber slices, carrots, pita, cherry tomatoes (cut in half and emptied) salsa, bean sprouts, and crackers....usually.
My favorite is to take the tiny round pitas and cut in half (makes a bowl shape). Top with hummus, then salsa, then bean sprouts!!! YUM!!!
yum yum!
I had the best hummus the other day, and just ate it by itself with a spoon - I should have asked for the recipe! whenever I make hummus, it never turns out right... I'll check out the other thread for improvement ideas...
I will eat hummus with ANYTHING.
Yes, yes and yes, sir! I love it when there is a whole spread of items at a get together. I can then dip all sorts of items (intended or no) intot he hummus.
It's a wonderful sandwich spread, too. Holds anything you'd want on there, on there.
I'm going to create an interpretive dance about hummus' effect on society. I'm thinking flamenco-tp fusion. Or not.
I get roasted garlic hummus and spread a thick layer of it on a whole wheat wrap, a few drops of lemon juice for tang, and pile on fresh veggies and have a veggie wrap (I use green pepper, lettuce, tomato, cucumber and carrot). Umm-umm, best wrap in the world!
They realy need a happy face for delicious, one that is licking its lips.

ha. i thought that too until i read about your rice crispies adventure. that's the level two stuff there. ;D

you tube awaits... ;) :)
It may sound weird, but don't knock it till you try it :)
I eat a lot of things with hummus, including: carrots, pretzels, Kavli crackers, tortillas, fresh pita and spicy baked pita chips from the Armenian bakery.
I think roasted red pepper hummus and sundried tomato hummus is delicious on Nabisco saltines or any whole wheat cracker.
And I think those flavors are good on veggie burgers like Boca.
mmmmm!!! Hummus with hot sauce on a toasted bagel...or wet down a bit on salad as a dressing. Or on crackers or pita or spoons or fingers. Hummus in a sandwhich with salsa and spinach or kale. MMMMMM!!!! :D I loves my hummus.
I tend to eat it with a spoon...seriously, I scoop some out on my plate as a "side dish" and just nosh. Or spread it on wholegrain toast. Especially the blackbean hummus....bliss.
i like it with marmite on a bagel :) or on a spoon, vegetables, crisps. not sure about on cereal though :s
I actualy eat hummus as a dip with chips ..... mmmmmmmm so yummy. Or I put it on whole wheat bread with lettuce and tomato (my version of a fake tuna sandwich. That's what it reminds me of). But you guys/gals had some great ideas that I will try :)
i've eaten it chip dip style too, but instead of chips i use fresh spinach. just take a few leaves and roll them up so they're sturdy enough to dip and you're set.. it's not as crunchy as potato chips of course but it is still pretty satisfying.. not to mention healthier.
I lurve hummus :D
I had it for lunch today on wholemeal bread with avocado, red capsicum (uh..bell pepper?), cucumber, red onions, and baby spinach leaves. Scrummy!
I also love it with just your regular old Turkish bread, and carrots/celery sticks and other dippy vegies.
I'll eat it with anything too! Grilled pita chips, crackers, veggies. I also do the sandwich thing with cucumbers, sprouts, peppers, onions and lettuce.
My favorite hummus is garden vegetable with olive hummus a close second.
I don't like hummus :( so I'd have to say you just don't eat it...lol
