Ways to eat hemp:

This is a thread to post favourite ways to eat hemp including recipe links, the form, (hemp hearts, hemp protein, hemp oil...), or even what you like to sprinkle it on...
Here is a good page for info about hemp: http://www.healing-source.com/about_HempHearts_b.htm

Hemp oil is nice. Don't usually have it, though it is great in salad dressings.
I really like hemp hearts, (hulled hemp seeds).
Most often, they find their way into smoothies, homemade granola bars and on salads.
Also, in hot or cold cereal, muffins, lasagna...
A decadent way to enjoy them is Raw Cacao Hemp 'Ice Cream' as well as Dark Chocolate Hemp Truffles.  :)>>>
P.S.. I just posted the truffle recipe today.

Your turn!

My favorite (and only way I've had it...) is the Living Harvest hemp ice cream!

I agree hemp milk is pretty nasty.  I put shelled hemp seeds in smoothies and soy yogurt, and the French Meadow Bakery has a hemp seed bread thats good, but pretty expensive....I've also had it in some kind of cereal.  The hemp seeds don't have the same aftertaste as the milk had.

hemp seeds (hulled) on just about everything!  some hemp burgers are nice. nature;s path hemp granola rocks!

the protein powder isn't so good but i'm using it anyway - expensive!

hemp oil for salads definitely - even with fruit!

the mylk tastes fine to me but too costly.

I once bought a jar of hemp-sesame tahini... good lord that was amazing. It was everything I like about tahini, and everything I discovered I liked about hemp. I've also had hemp protein in shakes/smoothies when I was down in Santa Cruz - I don't know the brand, but it was flippin' gorge. I <3 hemp. If only it wasn't so expensive!

I use the hemp protein powder in my shakes. It's pretty neutral tasting to me & really makes them filling & sustaining.

I have hemp oil too, but I don't use it much. I like the idea of putting the seeds in burgers though! :)

I got some organic hemp peanut butter yesterday.  I just sampled some on a rice cake and it is delicious.
This is what I drank when I woke up this morning: http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=32679.0 It's a strawberry banana hemp smoothie.

Given how much I enjoy hemp seeds, it was disappointing how the store-bought milk tasted. It does vary from brand to brand. I didn't like hemp bliss, though apparently they've improved the taste. Living harvest was pretty good and it was also on sale.
I much prefer making hemp milk, it's actually cheaper than buying it and it tastes way better. I'd like to find a group of friends to go in on ordering a ten pound bag online. I did that a few years ago and it is ridiculously cheaper than the bags or tubs of them in stores. Right now I pick it up in the bulk section.

There's a restaurant around here that makes the MOST DIVINE hemp nut burger ever. I wish I could replicate it somehow.

I'm not a huge fan of the milk, and it takes a while to get used to the oil in smoothies (works best in peanut buttery type smoothies). I sprinkle the seeds on things when I think of it.

I've been using CHIA seeds lately instead.

what recipe do you use? I know Bryanna Clark G has one but I haven't tried it...the very first time I had hemp milk I thought it was okay, but then I got a whole bunch on sale and HATED it.  I would love to try and make some without that aftertaste to it.

I don't use a recipe, just put a handful of seeds in the blender with some water, vanilla and either a banana, an apple or some sweetener, (usually agave and sometimes stevia). The amount of hemp I use really depends how thick and creamy I'd like it.

Dreena Burton's book Eat, Drink & Be Vegan has an AMAZING hemp seed burger recipe called Spicoli Burgers (heh, get it?).  ;)  The recipe is available online, too: http://veggie-terrain.blogspot.com/2008/04/spicoli-burgers-potato-squashers-thyme.html

They're so delicious.  Everyone goes crazy over them, and my boyfriend said they're his favorite veggie burgers ever.

I LOVE hemp! I love the milk, I put the powder in my smoothies, eat the seeds striaght up.

When it comes to the oil, I usually use it after I've cooked something. Like I'll drizzle it on my steamed veggies or I'll stir it into soup after it's done cooking. You can also put it right on your body and hair too!
