Vegan BBQ sauces-bottled or recipes?

I've been loving the vegan ribs recipes on this site, but I'm having trouble finding a sauce I like for them. I want something sweet and spicy, not too thick...
My ideal is actually the sauce that comes on the Morningstar Farms ribs. Is there anything commercial or homemade that tastes like that? I don't want to keep throwing out bottles of yucky sauce!
I like Vegan Dad's BBQ sauce a lot:

It's pretty much just ketchup with extras added in, but it really works for me and it's super simple.
I make it even easier by omitting the sauteing of the garlic & onion with the margarine. I just leave them all out and then add some onion/garlic powder to the sauce if I feel like it. So I basically just mix and cook ketchup, maple syrup, brown sugar, vegan Worcestershire, mustard, and hot sauce.
Note that if you use a sweet ketchup you can greatly reduce the amounts of maple syrup and brown sugar, unless you like it really really sweet. You can make it spicier if you want by adding more hot sauce and maybe some cayenne pepper.
I can't recall if it tastes like the Morningstar ribs one (haven't had them in a while), but I can say that I too had trouble finding a bbq sauce that I liked and I do really like the Morningstar ribs sauce.

I like that one, and it's fat free. I've never had Morningstar ribs, but it's worth a try.
Oh my, i wish they just bottled the riblet sauce. Mmmm (the gardenburger one! i dont care if they're the exact same thing, they taste different to me).
I love the one from VCON. It sort of takes a long time buy its worth it.
I'm going to check out that vegan dad one for something simpler.
In a pinch I just mix together ketchup, molasses, garlic, cumin, and other spices and its pretty good!

Dude, this recipe is KILLER. I usually cook it for longer than it calls for to let the flavors deepen some more. I also love the apricot BBQ sauce out of veganomicon too. You can use pretty much any fruit in place. I've used apples, pinapple, mango and papaya! FANTASTIC!

ahh, you know what, in my previous post i meant the gardenburger ribs! i've never had the morningstar ones. i'd definitely be happy if they bottled that sauce.

Thanks for the link! It's hard for me to find a prepared BBQ sauce that doesn't have tomato paste (reflux city for me!)

I was going to suggest this one as well. It's very flexible... I've even subbed the molasses for agave syrup and it still tasted delicious!
Hmmm, I saw someone on this site say they like the Annie's Naturals maple BBQ sauce, but DH just brought some home and I see it contains the dreaded "natural flavors"--does anyone know if this stuff is even vegetarian?

looks like they are
Oh thank goodness! Thank you for that link-I couldn't tell from something else I saw on their site. Just tried it out on DS, and he likes it on the gluten ribs! Wheaw!
I like one of the Annie's, but none of the others.
I just made the myvegancookbook sauce, and it is really, really good! Reallllyyy easy, too. I doubled it, and then used even more hot sauce, and added some white vinegar. Yum!
Ok--I'm going to try the myvegancookbook sauce today. Annie's is pretty expensive, and DS wasn't in love with it, just said it was better than my previous experiments. And he's really into the ribs, so I'll need lots of it.
I have only ever tried the myvegancookbook BBQ sauce. BBQ sauce isn't really that big in the UK.
The myvegancookbook sauce was really reaaly yummy. I didn't expect much from it as there's not a huge number of ingredients, but it was tasty tassty! Also really easy to whip up.
I didn't use the liquid smoke or molasses as I don't keep them in and the chili powder we have in the UK os the US equivalent to hot pepper powder, so didn't use that either.

Ohhh, you should try it again sometime with the smoke and molasses. They are two of the best ingredients!
eta: The BBQ sandwich on that site is really good, and unique, also. We've talked about it here before, but it uses hearts of palm/palm fruit.
Ok, just tried it. Pretty good. Not what I was looking for, but good in its own right. I'll try it on DS when he wakes up ;) In the meantime, I'm still looking for something overly sweet and a bit spicy, kind of glazy rather than pasty, for me.

That was fast!
Hmm...for more glazy, you could try adding quite a bit more brown sugar, and maybe less tomato juice. Let it boil for a little bit, then simmer. It should become more of a glaze. You also want to add more hot sauce to counteract the sweet. I think the MVC one is a really great base to play around with.
AC I don't think that liquid smoke exists in the UK, unfortunately.
And molasses, meh I just don't use them (it?). Maybe I should invest in molasses.

cute!
Molasses is a liquid "sweetener" sort of like syrup, but not very sweet.
Guess what? After all this, I decided I like the ribz with no sauce at all! They are that good! Of course, the rest of the family still needs sauce of some kind...

you shush! I was not meaning to be cute ::) I know what molasses is/are I just didn't know whether you called molasses a 'them' or an 'it'. It sounds plural so sounds like it should be them!
So, just to clarify - molasses is an 'it'?
