Taste of lentils

This question is stupid and I'm pretty sure I already know the answer but... Do red lentils taste significantly different than normal brown/green lentils b/c there are several recipes that use red lentils and they are way more expensive than normal lentils and I don't want to spend the extra cash if I don't have to... college kid little money. ???

they do taste different, but that is less important than the textural difference.

what recipes do you want to sub for? sometimes you could probably get away with pureeing regular lentils, but it will be different.

I wanted to make Indian Dahl and The Lentil sauce for pasta... they both say to use red lentils

The red lentils are blander, in my book, but absorb flavours well...If I were you, I'd do as Hespi says and just puree what you've got. And feel free to tweak the seasoning.
