Soul food?

I was making hummus this evening, and it got me thinking. What are your definite veg*n "soul foods"? The ones you turn to when you want something you know is going to be delicious. The ones that just have to be on the veg*n table when you've had a hard day, or need nourishing inside as well as out.

For me, of course, hummus. Black bean, lentil, red lentil, chickpea--hummus.
Miso soup...which for me means any soup with some miso stirred in, but there are some awesome "feel better" miso soups on VW.
Sweet potato dahl. Any dahl, really, but that sweet potato dahl recipe is simply completely satisfying. Served over rice, it's a plateful of love and acceptance.

What about you?

My comfort foods are most anything smothered in chile. Especially sopapillas. Tamales and pintos always make me feel good, too.

My list is really weird, but here they are: frozen bananas, dulse, pumpkin pie smoothies, and air popped popcorn. I really, really loves these things and eat some or all of them pretty much everyday! :^

A nice bowl of chili is comfort food to me.
With some crusty, fresh, home-made bread. . . Mmmm. <3

And that dreadful, dangerous, addictive, delicious Microwave Brownie for One that haunts me. I seldom make it because in the 90 secs it takes to cook I regress to a primitive state!  :-D

This may sound crazy but oatmeal is one of my comfort foods.  It is warm, filling and versatile.  :)>>>

And rice. Plain cooked rice. With whatever on top, or just with some buttery spread or olive oil and Herbamare.
