Need Party food ideas for a variety of diets...

So, my boyfriend is having a party for all his old high school friends. Translation: I need to cook for a lot of people, with a variety of diets, none of whom I've ever met before, so I need to impress them! The diets I need to conform to:
1 lacto-vegetarian (me!)
2 lactose intolerants
1 celiac
1 lacto-ovo vegetarian
Any amazing ideas? Not everyone has to be able to eat everything, but everyone needs to be able to eat something. I'm brainstorming but I wanted to see your ideas too. I've never cooked without wheat before... this guy won't even eat teriyaka sauce that has a little wheat flour added to it for thickener.
So you basically need to make all the recipes gluten-free vegan and you're covered! (For soy sauce, just use wheat-free tamari - it works great)
I have a lot of GF recipes (gluten-free) in my book & also some on my blog: www.rhiw.blogspot.com
There are also a lot on vegweb. Have fun! :)
chips + salsa = gluten free and vegan. also bean dips, veggie dips, hummus, GF crackers with slices of uncheese or roasted veggies.........make GF cheeseless pizza with pesto or roasted veggies and slice into bite size pieces, fruit salad with a sweet dip, stuffed mushrooms..... mmm so hungry now lol.
IF your a celiac, you don't eat ANY wheat, not even a little. Im thinking a major taco party, with tons of topping options, and uncheese sauce for nachos. Maybe several soups or chilis and cornbread, which I can give you a vegweb recipie I GF and is AWESOME. Fruit and veggie trays, antipasto are great and GF staples which everyone likes. An italian them with a main pasta dish with sauce, (find out what type of GF pasta the person likes, he/she can help cook it there) antipasto, salads and vegan tiramisu, use GF lady fingers or GF sponge cake. Oh, soo hungry now!
GFVegmom: I'm sure you know WAY more about celiac's disease than I do, but I have another friend with celiac's that can eat small amounts of wheat and be completely fine, and she goes to like, a celiac support group or something and says most of the people in it are the same way. I just figured most people with Celiac's can handle a little bit of wheat, just like lactose intolerant people can handle like a little bit of butter now and then.
Sadly, those people need to talk to their docs pronto, whoever gave them bad info. Celiac isn't an intollerance, it is an autoimmune disorder and any amount of gluten at all will cause your body to make antibodies against itself, causing internal damage. THe only way to stay healthy is to be 100 percent GF, for life. They may feel fine, but internally their body is still damaging itself. I feel sad for them. Hope they get better, accurate info soon.
The Tahini Asparagus Wrappers from our last iron chef.
Rice is celiac-friendly, right?
And Annie's Goddess dressing doesn't have any dairy, I don't think.

HH, that recipe sounds yummy. The tempeh bacon may not be GF, but you could make your own. I may have to try this one, I love asparagus
Good point about the tempeh bacon. I marinated plain tempeh, but soy sauce has wheat.
Maybe since it's winter a warming stew, yummy salad, and some appetizers. Pick a theme, maybe? Like mexican or italian. You could do a black bean soup, taco bar, jicama slaw. Or for italian, maybe a bean and kale soup, GF breaded eggplant, or a veggie(no noodle) lasagna w/ cashew/tofu ricotta, and a marinated bean/cucumber salad? GF desserts? Hmmm, vegan ice cream w/ a fruit topping?
These are great ideas, everyone!! Since we're holding the party at someone else's house, I don't want to use too many of their dishes, so I think I'm going to stick primarily to finger-food appetizer like things that can form a decent meal if I make enough of them. All of the GF ideas are great! :D thanks!
Corn is GF, isn't it? You can use cornstarch as a thickener if it is. Just blend a little cornstarch with water to make a paste and add it to whatever you want to thicken, stirring madly, until it boils and reaches the thickness you want.
rice is GF too, right? I usually use rice flour as a thickener. Cornstarch always makes stuff taste... weird, when I use it as a thickener, to me.
rice is GF too, right?
This seems like a good list --> http://www.csaceliacs.org/gluten_grains.php
You also have to be careful with hidden gluten like flavors of chips, etc...
