Nayonaise and Veganaise

There's a recipe for Vegan Ranch Dressing in a post from VegNews:

I thought both Nayonaise and Veganaise were vegan mayo substitutes.  What's the difference?  Why would you use 1/2 cup of each?

In my opinion, Nayonaise is disgusting.  It's like the Miracle Whip where Vegenaise is the regular mayo - and extremely delicious!

Yeah I think I agree, even though I kind of like Nayonnaise. Vegenaise is definitely more like "real" mayo and tastier. The only reason I prefer Nayo is because it's much lower in calories. Like Miracle Whip vs. Mayo,  I think Nayo is tangier, more "sweet & sour" if you will,  than Vegenaise.

I'm one of those sick Nayonaise fans. :P  I never liked "real" mayo though, always preferred Miracle Whip.  Nayo is definitely lighter and the taste is tangier.  Different texture than Veganaise too, not as light.

That ranch dressing recipe is one of those recipes I would modify to suit.  Doubt the end product would be greatly affected.

I'm like berryraw I prefer Nayonaise (fat-free) b/c before I was vegan I prefered Miracle whip to mayo, so it's really just a taste thing.

I tried Vegenaise recently after reading about it here and gagged on it.  Maybe I got a bad jar?  I'll stick with Nayonnaise for now.  It's very good for times when you'd use a seasoned mayo.

I think veganaise is so much better.

Vegenaise is 10 billion times better.

I'm another fan of Nayonaise, I can't stand Veganaise.

To be 100% honest though, they're both kind of gross.

I love Veganaise.  Nayonaise has a funky gelatinous texture that puts me off.  I do use it in dressings on occasion though to keep the calories/fat down.

Another Nayonaise idiot here. I've had to stay low fat for a while now because of my stupid digestive system, and Nayonaise kept things like potato salad possible where they otherwise wouldn't be. Well, when I ate cooked foods. Yeah, don't trust me, though.  :>

Vegenaise all the way!  (I always hated Miracle Whip.)

I noticed that, too. I don't recall it tasting much like Miracle Whip though. I thought it was horrible and ended up throwing the entire jar away. Normally, I hate to waste stuff, but in this instance I was happy to make an exception. Yuck.

I have never seen nor tried Vegenaise, so I can't comment on that.

I know that Veganaise has a huge following, but I think I like Nayonaise better. I tried Nayonaise first, so I think it stuck. I use Nayonaise/Veganaise for pasta salads, and I just like the Nayonaise a little better.

As for mayo vs. whip....? I don't know what my parents had growing up...what's the difference between the two?? I feel a little silly asking...

That's so weird that the recipe calls for both. I agree that you should just use whichever you prefer/have on hand.

I've seen recipes that called for 50/50 "naise" before. I always assumed that they both had pros and cons and when they combine they canceled each other out...if that makes sense. Like one has the texture while the other has the flavor. Anyways, just what I've always thought. Never tried Nayo, I'll stick with Vegenaise.

Tried both: hated nayonaise, loved veganaise.
