HELP!!! Need recipe advice for Christmas!

I have recently moved to Maine where my husband is from. He is from a long line of carnivorous people who really could not give a flying fig newton what they put in their mouths. His dad and step mom are coming for Christmas Eve dinner.
What to serve?!?!?!?!?!

So far I have a vegan peppermint swirl cheezecake with a chocolate crust planned for dessert.

Main course ideas are what I'm looking for. And probably nothing involving tofu, seitan etc. They're squeamish. :)

thank you,

Bethany

Are they turned off by lentils?

I would say if you're wanting a really hearty sorta main dish go with bulger wheat or maybe a pasta dish.  Some roasted balsomic maple veggies on the side. Good spring salad would be great. Maybe homemade dinner rolls served with a cranberry sauce (not the canned stuff oh lord!) and of course dessert. Lemme know if you need recipes :P

Many of our meals are put together by what omnivores call 'side dishes', and yet we seem to make a complete meal out of them. Anyone who has come to our home for dinner has yet to walk away hungry and or complain about what is on the menu. I would be hard pressed to find anyone able to complain about a veg meal, as long as it was well put together.

Maybe you could make some sort of lasagna or stuffed squash (with rice or some other grain as a stuffing with various fruits and veggies). That would be hearty and not to "freaky" for a meat eater.

Go italian, and nothing in loaf form, is my advice. People tend not to notice that pasta dishes they eat all the time happen to be vegan. I'm with danibazaar, we have lasagna for christmas every year. Have an awesome salad, breadsticks or garlic bread, even a soup if you're getting fancy. Good luck, let us know what you come up with.

Lucky! My mum and I want to do an Italian x-mas, but we always go to my grandma's and she only does the same traditional thing every year XP blah. I'm going to rebel this year and bring lasagna anyways! And I agree with nmpixie. Have breadsticks, garlic bread, soup...maybe roasted veggies with a dip of sorts (like a tomato based one). Good luck!
