does anybody have atried and proven way to mimmic the flavor of fish?
i used to think seviche was only soy but i read that it is made of fish..
i would really like to know how to make things that can mock the taste and flavor of fish.. thanks.
Seaweed can do the trick. I've had "fish" that's basically seitan wrapped in a sheet of nori. It's quite delish. You could probably get the nori or dulse flakes and add them to whatever you're making.
oyster mushrooms also taste really fishy.

Really? What perceptions can do. I find them meaty, not fishy.
But then my salad-greens-in-a-bag smelled like fish to me today.
Get some wakame seaweed, "toast" it in the microwave and grind it up. Add to chickpea salad or whatever to give it that fishy taste. Or toss some in the broth of whatever you're cooking.
i have some fish fillets from the may-wah veggie foods co. and they are the most fish-like tasting thing ive come across. theyre pretty good.
you can order their stuff online, theyve actually been advertising on vw lately.
kelp seasoning or seaweed flakes (i find these at the asian grocery store as rice seasoning)

yeah, that's what I was thinking of. they're really yummy. I bought a "fish ham," which sounds weird. But it was good.
i've also read that if you freeze silken tofu and then thaw it - it can have a consistency similar to fish - but i haven't tested the theory myself yet.

yeah ive tried the fake salmon and the fish thing thats shaped like an entire fish too.. those were both good but definitely had a meatier texture and not much of a fishy flavor. i think the breaded filets are the closest in both categories.

ive done it and i think it does have a more fish like texture - it's more delicate.
I second the nori and dulse options, very fishy!
