...so, i just read that lots of gum companies will use animal products in their gum under the ingredient "gum base" or something like that.. this really disturbs me, i am a pack-a-dayer. does anyone know any vegan gums? trident?
I don't know about specific brands, but also be careful of "resins" or shellac coating, which of course are insect derived. Yech.
The only gum PETA lists as vegan is Hubba Bubba and what's in the middle of a Blow Pop.
Hey Rachlove2!
According to Peta Orbitz gum is vegan.
(well, it's on this list anyway)

Sorry for leaving that out -- it's not on the list I had printed (a while ago-keeps changing).
I buy Peelu Dental Gum at mothernature.com. I get 100-piece bottles and put them in a smaller case - the one my first Peelu gum came in. I love the stuff!
I buy Homeofresh chewing gum from my local homeopathics shop (natural 'pharmacy' of sorts). I believe it's made by Unda. It's a little pricey ($2.25 CDN per 12-piece pack), so I use it sparingly. It seems difficult to find online, but I found a couple links. Here's one: http://www.innovativemedicine.com/products/catalog/index.php?id=un009. This is their little blurb about it:
Natural alpha-Bisabolol is derived from essential oil (usually chamomile).
