Are Carob Chips vegan?

I just purchased a product by Sunspire called "Vegan Carob Chips" and the label does not mention any egg or dairy ingredients but it does say that it may contain trace amounts of milk (no incidental milk) since it was manufactured on equipment, equipment that is also used to manufacture milk ingredients. Will these still be considered vegan even though it may contain trace amounts of milk?
Personally I would consider that vegan, but that's me. They mention that because people with severe milk allergies, or religious reasons need to know.
Next time you might by Tropical Source if available. They are probably one of the few chocolate makers that are vegan and use only "vegan" equipment.
I agree that for me, that would be vegan. If we start worrying about equipment when deciding whether things are ethically produced, where do we stop? At the harvesting equipment? And does it affect the parent seeds? At which generation of seeds?
That way lies madness. I think you're safe.

Right, those grain harvesters are notorious for killing rodents and other animals while they harvest.
I'd say vegan too, I agree with all of the above.
definitely vegan. you're in the clear
I think all the information above is very informative and I do agree that these carob chips are vegan.
I wanted to add that I corresponded with the company that makes this product and inquired about the "may contain traces…" statement. I was told that smaller companies do not have the overhead to own their own packaging plants, so they may share space in a larger building with companies making other products. People with very sensitive allergies can have a reaction to even minute particles of substances such as peanuts, milk, wheat, etc. that may be floating in the air. Therefore by law a company that packages their products in the same room as other food that contain those products must label it.
Hope this clears some confusion-- I didn’t know what to make of that statement until I did the research…
