Hello all, I am going to an 80s theme party in a couple of weeks and it is a potluck. I need to bring a dish (not dessert) and I would love it if I could come up with something that went along with the 80s theme. Can anyone think of any "fad" foods from the 80s? I thought of a few things but I don't even know if they would be appropriate or if they even signify the 80s: fondue, sushi, or spinach artichoke dip. What do you think? Any other ideas?
Onion dip, quiche, pizza bagels, muffins, everything microwavable.
Packaged stuff: Diet coke (introduced in the 80s!), jolt cola, bugles.
"Pasta is the quiche of the 80s" (Nora Ephron). Particularly home made pasta that you make in your very own Pastamatic and then bore everyone about how wonderfully easy it is to make, if people would just take the trouble. ::)
Bake a cornbread in a round cake pan. Cut out a wedge so it looks like PacMan.

:-D Love this idea!! Maybe a strategically placed black olive for the eye!
Pasta salad was very yuppy-tuppy in the 80's God knows why. Oh and serve a white Zinfandel. Known then as "the Schlitz of wines" but everybody secretly loved it.

I worked at a wine bar/store for several years. People STILL love it (God knows why) and not secretly either! :)
Thanks for the ideas! I kinda like the pacman cornbread thing, too!
dont forget the cool ranch doritos!!
