1950's Theme Ideas?

My omni Goddaughter is having a 16th birthday with a 1950's Drive-In theme. I'd like to bring a vegan dish or two to add to the festivities, but somehow when I think 1950's all I can picture is meat, cheese and fried foods - oh, and gelatin! I'd like some low fat, low sugar vegan offerings. Any ideas? Thanks!
Maybe you could do baked versions of old, fried foods like french fries or onion rings. Casseroles or chili might work too. *laughs* when I think diner, I think milkshakes, but it would probably be a little much to provide everyone with vegan shakes considering the price!
I realized after I posted this that there are two definitions of "Drive In" - in this case, it's a 1950's drive in Movie theater, not restaurant. Also, the event is about an hour away, so food that travels well would also be great. Thanks.
You obviously need to make veggie corndogs or vegan caramel corn. If you don't, I forbid you to post here ever again.
pigs are safe in the barn
make them individual, and small, with little toothpicks. with potato salad?
veggie nachos, french fries and veggie gravy
