What TV Shows Should I Watch via Netflix?

I'm just finishing Six Feet Under.  I like finding shows, like SFU, where entire series are available on DVD so I can obsess and then have some closure at the end.  I've watched season 1 of Dexter and I have season 1 of Torchwood on its way.  I'm not sure about Torchwood, I saw a clip of it on YouTube and thought I'd like it.

Likes:  compelling characters
Dislikes:  situational comedies

Any suggestions for other shows that are on DVD?

Veronica Mars is ALWAYS great. Make sure you start with Season 1.

LOL, I read the thread topic and was about to recommend Six Feet Under.  Nevermind.

What else . . . I definitley second Gilmore Girls.  And one of my favorite shows of all time was Arrested Development.  I've been meaning to order that one off Netflix, too.

I've watched the first four episodes of Torchwood.  I like it.  It's like Men In Black.   ;)b

I've begun watching Weeds online.  i don't know yet.  I'm on the second episode.  Hopefully there'll be more character development.

For net-flix viewing, I'm a big fan of Lost, Buffy, Angel, Fire Fly (just a bit of a Whedon fan!!). Then there's X-Files, Big Love, and I third the Weeds recs.... It is more of a "dramedy" than a sit-com (Widow who turns to drug dealing to support family, not much of a sit-com type)....

OOoooooohhhhh, X-files. Did you hear there is a new x-files movie coming out! I'll be there on opening night  ;)b

Personally I like "Rescue Me" (the Dennis Leary firefigher series with lots of hot hunks in uniform  >:D. Season 4 just out on DVD) and "Sex and the City".....

What about The Office?  Does that classify as a sitcom?  I think it's hilarious and we own all of the DVDs.  Give it a shot!  You have to watch a few episodes to enjoy the humor, but once you do, oh man...it's great  :)>>>

I say get started on Buffy ASAP!  It's my all time favorite show.  My afternoon ritual is getting my daughter down for her nap (snugging together on the couch) and eating 2 pieces of yummy bitter sweet German chocolate while watching Buffy reruns.  I just saw the Dracula one today.  ;)b

me too! i always look for it "ondemand". i have comcast.... but omg! ck, have you ever seen the british office?

I've seen a few episodes of it, but I think the American version is better.  I think it's because Steve Carrell is ridiculous and the British boss is just a straight up asshole.  I did like the part in the British version when they were doing muhnamuhna (<---spelling?) from the Muppets.

British comedies I will watch:
Black Adder
Mr. Bean
Monty Python
Are You Being Served?
Keeping Up Appearances
It seems like there should be something else, but I can't think of it.

Not British related, but I wish the State would come out on DVD already.

'Chef' is a hugely funny British comedy and the complete series is on DVD.

I am stoked to see the complete series of 'Get Smart' is available with Time Life.  I was a huge fan.

I'm caught up on The Office.  Well, not completely.  I wait for a season to be out on DVD.  I don't know if it's on NBC.com, but my computer buffers a lot when I try to watch anything off there.

I wish soaps were on DVD.  I'd be all over Hollyoaks - another type of show that is completely unlike me, but I like anyway.
