Whale Wars
This is my favorite show, hands down not just for entertainment value but because I really appreciate and support Paul Watson and the Sea Shepherds' mission. There is a forum in Food Fight to debate anything about the orgainization,

but in here those who like it, (like me!) can talk about the show. The offical first show is on next Friday, but if you have Comcast On-Demand you can watch the first episode of season three. Its awesome, they recieved a 5 million dollar donation from Bob Barker and got two more boats, (one speedy high-tech one to catch the harpooning ships, and one ghost-ship that was unknown to everyone.) In the first episode they already encounter a harpoon vessel, after about 6 days into their mission. This is refreshing after so many missions in past seasons where they don't find the whalers until right before they are going to run out of fuel. The crew eats vegan on board and Paul Watson has a long history of animal advocacy, he is my hero! Heres a link to catch up on episodes from past seasons on animal planet

My favorites are Paul, (of course,) Peter Hamersdt is the first mate or something, and hes awesome too! The guys that boarded the ship that one time are pretty hard core too!
oh yeah, and their one speedy boat gets smashed and cut in half, then one of the members gets held by the whalers and brought to Japan. (and is still there.) Definetly more exciting, (and it sounds from the numbers they were more effective,) this season. Its kinda weird because the crew is all broken up on different boats, and most of the people on the main boat, (w/ Watson,) are new. The veteran memebers are mostly on the "ghost Ship", called the Bob Barker. I hope someone else likes this show too!
I've seen a few episodes and it's pretty badass. I agree. It's smart entertainment for a smart cause. I saw the new season starts soon, right? Any word on the first two seasons being on DVD or blu-ray?
I think they are, some episodes are on the animal planet wensite and avalible to view the full episode. heres a link to amazon where they have them to buy... again if you have Comcast on deman all of season 2 is on there right now, and the first episode of season three. i really like this show too!! though i've only seen a few episodes, they're putting forth a great effort and i commend them for that.

I've never heard of this show and it's not available here, but Pete Bethune is a New Zealander and the trial is going on right now. It was the last day for the defence yesterday then they have one final day scheduled for closing statements on June 10.

He could end up in jail for up to 15 years if he gets convicted, it's some pretty scary stuff....

so scary, they are all so brave! There is a link on the Sea Shepherds' webiste to write letters to help him, and his email to send him letters of encouragement. It looks like, (on their website,) that Australia is actually trying to take some kind of steps to help as well.
Those conservationists are my heroes. People fail to realize that humanity has no future without a thriving ocean. The oceans create the air we breathe- why do you think astronomers look for oceans on other planets as a sign of intelligent life.
You should definitely check out the sea sheperd documentaries Sharkwater and' Paul Watson: ocean warrior'. Both are on netflix or can be obtained easily online. Definitely worth buying.
Educate your fish eating friends or people who ask, "Fish is healthy, why don't you eat it?" of seafood watch website, which is a guide to sustainable oceans. The hunted minke whales on the show aren't nearly as threatened as many other commonly consumed ocean creatures. Techniques that industrial fisheries use are ATROCIOUS. Paul watson has done a lot to interfere
I just don't understand why no one else is stopping the whalers- Only legal to kill for research so if they need a floating factory to process whale meat, there is no research going on, only 1000 dead whales so they can make money. It's totally illegal and totally documented, but pirates have to be the law enforcers that get kidnapped back to Japan and detained.
I want to go on that vegan ship and stop the killing!

I watched the first episode of the season again and have started crying in the beginning everytime when he talks about the whale getting harpooned and rolling on her back and crying. Its also creepy when the whaler-type boat finds the Bob Barker at that random African-island port and the guys are walking around looking at the crew and the ship..(the guys with their faces blurred out)
I started watching season one last night. The scene with them hurling flash bangs at the ship's crew was epic.

Two of them were supposed to be the new ones, honestly this season is a whole new show! My goodness as opposed to them not finding a boat until they have to turn back, this season there is already non-stop action. Its hard already knowing that the Ady Gil gets ruined and more importantly that Pete Bethune is in jail in Japan because he seems so eager (and hilarious) his smile is infectious and when he told that story of a girl on the Steve Irwin smelling like a hampster I couldn't stop laughing. And when he was moved to tears by those sweet whales by their ship I fell in love with him! (hes right in line after Paul)
That boat tailing the Steve Irwin is being so aggressive! It has seriously almost taken out the helicopter twice!
The Bob Barker's engine stopping when they are caught in those waves is absolutely terrifying!!!!! I really hope everyone is okay!!!!!! I mean they have to be or we would have heard something about it on their website right? I also really like the captain of the Bob Barker, he seems great!

Yeah, they got the two new boats but (as you said), they're having so many problems with them, they just need a new fleet of ships. If only I could write a check for three or four new ships. Ha!
And, yes, I get so anxious when I see that ship follow the Steve Irwin. Paul Watson said towards the end he thinks it might be military on that ship. Either way, I don't think the crew on the Japanese boat is reporting anything to the whalers. I think they're following him to scare him and to distract him. So far it's working! I keep yelling at the tv - "forget them, Watson! Move on to the whalers!" Maybe when the Ady and the Barker catch up, they'll get a chance to move ahead?

They also said that the SSCS was putting the Japanese in harms way and I was trying to tell them that the Japanese put themselves in harms way, they know what's going to be out there. I just gave up trying to talk to her. Then I got a personal message from one of them saying, "why don't u go shove it bitch!" O.O

They're trying to claim that the Sea Shepherds abandoned him even know they're still actively fighting for his release and supporting him.

I mean I know Japan is the one okaying their self-imposed quota (and breaking the ban on whaling) but I'm sure not every Japanese person is okay with it.
