This is the slimey side of Obama that frustrates me.  He'll mention "gay and straight" in speeches and meet with people to talk about GLBT issues, but he opposes equal marriage rights.  It's like he'd like to know what will make being a second class citizen more enjoyable... I dunno... how about full and equal rights... ass.

He is, after all, a politician. Sorry folks, I too hope it will be a glorious 4 years, we certainly need them, but think. Politicians are...what they are. And doubletalk is a specialty. You know what they say: if a politician smooths his hair, he's being sincere. If he tilts his head, he's being sincere. If he touches his nose, he's being sincere. But if he moves his lips...

Ahh, I'm so glad to see that people are still skeptical.
It is good that Obama was elected and that he signed to close Guantanamo in a year (let's hope something doesn't change this!!)  but we also have to not get too psyched up and keep him on his toes.
He is in there for us!  I'm glad he the beginning is showing he is open to listening to everyone.... let's hope he really does listen..

Obama personally chose Rick Warren, with Saddleback Church.  In 2005 Warren promoted Saddleback followers to be more like the followers of Hitler, Lenin, and Mao and urges "radical devotion" and for people to do "whatever it takes."  Obama chooses to receive council from someone who advocates for leaders of violence.  Warren has said some truely vile things about gay people.

This is precisely the reason I chose to not watch any of the inauguration.  Some people defended the decision by saying different view points needed to be represented and Obama was "reaching across the isle".  To me that's all just stupid political pandering.  People who preach hatred should have no role in the government, nor should the government listen to demands from hateful bigoted individuals.

"What are the problems that affect billions of people in the world?  Spiritual.  Emptiness."

???

I can't believe this douchebag.  I agree with foof.  All this business of extending an olive branch to conservatives for the sake of being nonpartisan is bullshit.  We don't have an obligation to find a middle ground with someone who preaches such things.  I'm still pissed that Obama thought that was a good idea.
