The Story of Stuff!

Very cool 20 minute video that explains where our "stuff" comes from, what happens to it, and more.   She does a great job of explaining it in an easy-to-understand way, too.   Check it out- you'll like it!

Wow, that was a great video, a real eye opener.  Sounds like the best thing to do is to quit buying stuff.  Make the stuff you have last, and don't give into fads, people  need to quit trying to "keep up with the Joneses".

My brain is playing tricks on me.  I first read the title as "The story of Snuff and wondered why in the world would a veg*n be interested in something that's so very nasty and unhealthy!

I love this movie. I saw it earlier this year. It was posted as a link in someone's signature on http://www.mothering.com/discussions as the must see movie for 2008. I was already into recycling, looking into a biodiesel vehicle, breastfeed my baby, used cloth diapers/cloth rags/cloth menstrual pads and bought used sometimes. I was also already boycotting WalMart after I had seen a documentary about how horrible the workers are treated in China to make their cheap crap they sell there. But, after I saw The Story of Stuff all the pieces fell into place and it all made sense. I stopped shopping anywhere for new things unless it was totally necessary. We get 99% of things used now. We will buy underwear, socks, and an occasional special clothing item for a special wedding or something new. Otherwise we buy used. It is really odd to say this but I feel it is so easy to get duped and lulled to sleep in this world. I had been wanting to wake up and this was another piece to the decline of love for the beautiful earth. Thank you for posting this link.

If you haven't seen this yet it is the must see movie for 2008! Watch it!

I keep wanting to watch it, but then I don't think I have 20 minutes, but then I waste 20 minutes when I could have been watching it.
