Rescued deer news story

Beautiful deer with a neat rescuer.

I don't understand why-- if they insist on taking her fawn-- they can't give him to a rehab/rescue farm instead of just forcing him out into the wild.  Surely they have those up there!

I agree....I just forwarded this article to the Animal Legal Defense Fund: www.aldf.org

I'm sure they can help.....

Thanks for posting this.....

(I like stories about "Hunters" that finally realize that the animals they've been killing for "fun" all of these years...have a heart.....and they themselves...."FINALLY" get one themselves....a "heart" that is).....

Why is it illegal to have deer as pets?
I understand that animals can "turn on you" like they said at the end of the article, but dogs and cats are capable of that....even people are capable of that

The government should let it go.

I used to volunteer at a wildlife rehab and we were not aloud to take in deer because we did not have a permit for deer.  Apparently they are not easy to get.  This story is so sad and reminds me a little of The Yearling.

I think that the fawn should be released into the wild after it has been rehabilitated.  The mother deer I think should go back to her human family, she can no longer live in the wild.  I understand the state's point of view.  Wild animals are not pets, and should stay in the wild.  I doubt a doe would turn on her human family but I can imagine a buck doing it.  Dear belong in the woods, and I am an avid hunter of dear...with my camera, ha ha, I know, old joke, sorry.  But really, dear arn't pets, and if this couple is allowed to keep their dear then every Joe Shmo is going to want a pet dear.  That can get dangerous.  Although I would like a dear as a pet, I think that would be cool!  I wonder if they are like goats?  Goats are pretty cool.
