hormone shots for weight loss

i just found out about these today, some people that i know have been taking it, and even more people have been talking about starting them.  ive heard that each shot costs 600$, but that seems unlikely to me.  it kind of scares me, i worry about these people, this does not seem right.  the people that are taking them are not obese, just overweight, i dont see why exercising and diet is out of the question.  but its not my body.

just wanted to put that out there, talk about it a little more.  have any of your heard about this?  know anyone thats taking them?  are they ok?

Umm, "B12 shots" used to be what charlatan doctors called shots of amphetamines back in Judy Garland's day when the studio was "desperate" to keep her looking like a child.  I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole and I'm concerned about my B12 intake!

Well, if they're real b12 shots, then that's OK, not some cracked out version. I had a foot of my colon removed, they had to take my ileum, and that's where you absorb B12. My docs still want me to get shots every now and then, but for the most part I feel alright.

And a quick fix for everything? In theory that sounds great, but I'm not so convinced it would be all wonderful and such. Shortcuts are great, but I think Americans are way too f'ing spoiled and lazy, and will do anything for a quick fix. My opinion of course...

Totally agree with you about Americans but you need to add, North Americans.  Canadians too are the same way.  Our obesity rate is rising.

As for B12, I don't absorb it and I go for monthly shots.  If I let it go two months, I feel so lethargic and crappy.

B12 is not a bad thing.  The first thing they check when suspecting Alzheimer's is B12.  It can give many of the same symptoms.  As my mom has Alzheimer's, I don't piss around with my B12.  I don't absorb it even in sublingual form.  I need the shots.

My mom's B12 was fine.  Sadly, it was Alzheimer's and diagnosed at the age of 64.

I wish people didn't take B12 so lightly.  Yes, being vegetarian or vegan doesn't mean you are deficient or will be.  BUT and a big BUT, every year when you have your blood work done, please ask them to check your B12 levels.  I work with a girl who eats a lot of red meat.  She also doesn't absorb B12 and needs monthly shots.  Her level was so bad she had them more frequently when the problem was first found.

A simple blood test folks.  Make sure every year that your B12 is good.  Has nothing to do with being vegetarian but lack of B12 can cause some serious problems.

I prayed to God my mom was only B12 deficient.  Sadly, that was not the case.
