Hey Fellow Vw'ers!
Spring is just around the corner, so I'm just starting to do my seedlings and pick out what I'm planning on growing for Spring... I've already got my herbs started.. I think I will do a mix of indoor windowsill/kitchen , container & outdoor (possibly raised bed) gardening. What do you guys have planned? I'm for sure not a gardening pro, but I'm trying to relearn what urban man has forgot and be able to grow *some* food or at least herbs & garlic... So, everybody feel free to contribute anything pertaining to indoor or outdoor gardening please!! ;)b
I received my organic park seed order!
Chives
Parsley
Oregano
Dill
Cilantro
Basil
Thyme
Mint
Mammoth sunflowers
Black zucchini
I also have a wild flower mix in planter and am trying to start black mustard seeds.
And of course tons of wheatgrass.
I have three planters full of scarlet runner beans. I'm going to train them to grow all over my balcony. And I have a single Brandywine tomato plant. But that's as ambitious as I can get, since I don't have much space. (And, with The Infant, I can't really grow anything that might get yanked apart and/or ingested.)
I'm so jealous of everyone's big plots! I fantasize about raised beds.
(That sounds wrong, doesn't it.)
Not sure if anyone is interested but Gardenburger has some kind of community garden grant going.

i noticed today that my okra seeds came up!! yippie!!! so that got me thinking that i should try some more seeds. so tomorrow i'll be getting black eyed peas, and spinach seeds as well as cantaloupe seedlings. hopefully.
My mustard seeds sprouted! And others too I think... :)>>>
Wow Storm - that is impressive! What does a Poona Kheera cucumber taste like? Is it anything like the plain green ones you find at supermarkets? It's gorgeous!
They are sweeter than the ones you get at the grocery. The skin is thin and they are very crisp. They are heirlooms and are more resistant to disease than many of the other cucumber varieties.

Living in the south does make it easier, especially if you try to stick mostly to local, organic produce. Not much of that where you live in the winter (I totally stalked your profile to see where you were >:D).....don't worry, I'm harmless! :>
We have a nice farmer's market here, but unfortunately it closes for season the end of May and doesn't open back up until October. It's just too hot here in the summer, so I try to grow as much as I can and then rely on organics from the HFSs.
I totally support stalking. ;)b In fact, I think I'm going to go stalk some more people now! :D

Stalking?! I think we call it "networking" right now.
As in, "I've been networking with you all night, while you were asleep and I was hiding under your bed."
Well I stalked you too blackrabbit!
Oops! I just stalked myself! :o
Stalk, lurk, network....
I bought a garden hose and rigged that from the bath room faucet out the window.
Upward and onward urban homesteader!
Well I stalked you too blackrabbit!
Oops! I just stalked myself! :o
Oh, baby! Well, at least it's consensual ...

BUSTED!
Today: a hand full of lima beans....not really enough to do much with.

Now, back to stalking!
That Storm's got a real green thumb,
Makes all my gardening look kinda dumb,
I do grow good potatoes,
But I sure like her tomatoes,
So plump and juicy, they sure look yum.
Storm, do you start you garden indoors? You are already harvesting!
