Why does peanut butter make me go to the bathroom?

I have a phobia about peanut butter (those of you who recall my phobias about fire, drinking large volumes of water, naked women, tooth brush contamination, public restrooms, appliances turning on by themselves, or being stricken by rare and unheard of illnesses, etc. may not be surprised by my fear of peanut butter.)

anyways, despite my fear of the big PB, I do love the taste of it...so on rare occasions, I eat some. But I've noticed EVERY time I eat peanut butter I have to have a bowel movement (don't get me wrong I'm neither afraid of nor opposed to bowel movements, on the eh contrary I quite enjoy them, as I'm sure all of you do...) The BMs start maybe a half hour after consumption of said food and then I have them multiple times a day for the next few days. Sometimes the need to eliminate is so sudden and intense I'm forced to.....use public restrooms!  :o

i have a few theories about why peanut butter does this....1) it does this to all people and nobody talks about it. 2) The oils in the Peanut butter lube up my intestines and e4verything just slides right through. 3)I become so anxious about the ingesting of butter made from peanuts that i get stress related bowle upsets....or 4) I have an unusual, probally incurable medical reaction to peanut butter that will only intensify if I continue to eat it and will eventually be killed by it because of the deadly carcinogens in peanutbutter which when combined with the calories cause certain death in some people.  ::)

what do y'all think?

Probably an allergy or unusual sensitivity to peanut butter.

Personally, I would not endure what you describe in order to indulge in PB consumption but that's just me.

You sure list a lot of phobias. Maybe you should change your name to 'Fraidy-Cat-Zealia.  :D

Could be the fiber, but I'm guessing it's more like an allergy. Do other nut butters do this to you? What about plain peanuts? I eat a lot of peanut butter and have never had such a "moving" experience  ::)

i'm not much of a peanut butter consumer myself.  but i have noticed similar bowel symptoms to those listed.  i don't know what food they are related to quite yet.  i sill have to start paying more attention...

All nuts take me this way, IF I have them for breakfast. It's handy if I've been a bit "irregular" which I am if I have to take certain types of meds like antihistamines or antibiotics. I don't think it's an allergy as such, unless you get intestinal cramps or something as well--it's probably just the nut oils. Especially as, in my case, it doesn't matter what kind of nut it is, in butter or whole.
Eating them when I've already had some food and am into my day doesn't cause it.

pb does the kinda the same to me.  :( which sucks cuz sometimes you just want a pb and banana sandwich. and that just leads to disaster.  ;D
i figure its the oils in the nuts...im not sure its the same w/ every kind of nut, as i dont generally eat alot of almonds, etc.  and it doesnt bother me if its in  a pb cookie or something, only fresh pb or nuts.  also, i thiink its worse if you normally dont eat it, and then all of a sudden start eating it...it seems, for me, if ive been eating pb for a bit, my body gets used to it. somewhat.  :)

for those of you who it does this to-- how much fat do you generally get in your diet? it could be the combo of fiber plus fat. when you aren't used to much fat and you eat a lot you tend to poo more.

Fat in general can't be it in my case as we eat olive oil a lot here...though I know OO has affected alot of my US friends who have come to visit.

Kcal=what we think of as calories. Calories with a lower case "c" = small unit of energy often used to measure heat/energy in scientific calculations; Calories with an upper case "C"=1000 calories or 1 Kcal. So, peanut butter has 200 Calories (Kcals)/serving or 200,000 (200 x 1000) calories. Does that make sense? With food, it's always measured in Calories; in science, they measure in calories.

that makes sense to me. i think pb may be the fattiest single thing i eat, and i used to use alot of oil in cooking and i think it was probably the same *effect*.
just keepin' the body lubed i guess.  ;D

Probably the combo of oil and fiber, I think.

Or you might have a sensitivity to peanuts -- do you react the same way to other nut butters?  Peanuts are pretty allergenic, I guess (I am not food sensitive at all, though I'm allergic to virtually every antibiotic known to man and a bunch of topical chemical stuff).

Maybe IBS or IBD with peanut butter being one of your trigger foods?!?!
